Summary
I have 15 minutes to save my mother’s life….

15 minutes is all the Rewind Agency gives you in the past, but for Lara Crane it’s enough time to race through the city, find her mother, and stop her from being killed in a mugging that happened over ten years ago.

But that’s not how it happened. The story she’s been told all her life is a lie and when Lara takes a bullet meant for her mother, her future changes forever.

The love of her life acts like a stranger. Her simple life is replaced with a giant house, glamorous clothes and a new boyfriend.

Except someone knows her secret. And he will try to stop her at every turn as she races against the clock to unravel a dangerous conspiracy.

15 Minutes is an edgy high octane YA thriller that can be described as Back to the Future meets Inception where the people Lara trusts change in an instant. She is in a timeline she doesn't understand, and is about to make one fatal mistake as she faces an enemy so familiar, he’s family.

My Review

I've read a couple time-travel books and they've been hit and miss with me. However, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It sucked me right in and never let go!

Lara is a really interesting character. She loves her dad and her boyfriend, but she desperately wants her mother back in her life. For most of us, we would just have to deal with the reality life is. For Lara, she has the chance to go back in time and save her mom from being murdered. It was interesting to see the choices Lara makes and why she makes them. She doesn't always think everything through and she is also figuring things out as she goes.

The plot is crazy! Yes, it really is. It's like Lara could have two different lives, or maybe more like three. Each of these lives are based on the decisions she makes. If she was left to her own devices it would be one thing, but there are outside influences and one in particular that wants to control Lara and time-travelling as a whole. We are pulled from the future to the past and back again. We are also pulled from one bad situation to another even worse and so on. There is a lot going on!

I figured out some things were wrong at different points in the story (the author leaves clues here and there), but not exactly in what way. Lara is having these flashbacks to different parts of her life and so you learn things with her as the story progresses. I knew something was wrong at the end, but Lara didn't see it. Even then though, I didn't know and still don't know the extent of what is going on.

I only have a few things I would have liked more of. They're not really even negative things. I would have liked for things to be explained a little bit more. This book leans on the side of no explanations as to how time-travel works, so as a reader you just have to accept what you're told. I also would have liked to delve deeper into both of her love interests' characters more. With that being said, it was very well and smoothly written and edited.

If you like time-travel novels, and exciting YA, I would definitely recommend picking this up (especially for your Kindle for $.99)! I know I will definitely be looking for the next book in this series.

Content: Some innuendo and maybe a few sear words, but I would consider this clean.
