Stacking the Shelves #55

Welcome to Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

I got some fabulous books in the mail this week!!! Check them out:
Battle Angel (Immortal City) by Scott Speer - Purchased
Thornhill (Hemlock #2) by Kathleen Peacock - Purchased
Star of Deliverance by Mandy Madson Voisin - For Review
Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J. Maas - Purchased

And then I got these beauties from the author, Melissa Wright (Thank you, Melissa!! You're the BEST!):
Bound by Prophecy (Descendants #1) by Melissa Wright
Shifting Fate (Descendants #2) by Melissa Wright
Reign of Shadows (Descendants #3) by Melissa Wright

I only got a few ebooks this week and pre-ordered a boxed set, which I'm happy about. I've got too many books to read as it is. :) I'm really excited about them all. Here they are (from NetGalley & Amazon):

  1. Wow, looks like you had a great book haul this week!
I really want to get approved for Princess of Thorns, but haven't been yet. :(

    Great haul this week!
    Here's my Stacking the Shelves
I picked up a few for the Read-a-thon next week! Can't wait!
Happy National Read A Book Day! :)

  3. Great review. I love Kasie West, her books never disappoint. I must admit to preferring Pivot Point to Split Second, but I thought they were both really great.

  4. Amazing haul this week, you've got a lot of great looking books. Heir of Fire <3 I can't get enough of that series, no idea how we are expected to wait for the next book. The Melissa Wright books look interesting, I haven't seen those before. I hope you enjoy them all :)

  5. I got Princess of Thorns, Suspicion, and Heir of Fire too. Already read Heir of Fire (it was amazing, but so dark). And I'm really excited about Princess of Thorns. I LOVED Of Beast and Beauty, it was a five star read for me. And Suspicion sounds so good. Have fun reading! ~Pam

  8. For some reason I thought this was middle grade -- the cover, while beautiful, looks more like MG to me. Glad you enjoyed, though :)

  9. I could kind of see that with the cat on the front, but it definitely is too violent for MG and has older characters. This one reminded me a little of Throne of Glass, but is also very different in its plot. There isn't magic, but it has the darkness/survival feel to the story and Kyra moves like an assassin, although she's a thief. I think you'd like this one, Jen.

  10. Fabulous haul. I got Suspicion as well, and Where Treetops Glisten is one I'll need to check out. Happy reading! My STS.

I would choose Between the Spark and the Burn by April Tucholke!

Also I said in the rafflecopter I replied as Emily @ Falling For YA but apparently I'm actually replying as Emily Siess. My bad.

  16. I've Kasie West, but believe it or not I haven't yet gotten to a pivot Point. I feel like it's been on my shelf forever! I really like her contemporary books, which says a lot because I usually stay away from that genre. ;) great review, Tressa!

  19. I prefer Pivot Point too, but I loved them both. :) I'm excited for West's next book, but sad that it will be one at a time now. I've been spoiled with two a year from her.

  20. Pivot Point was SO good! Ideally, I'd read Split Second immediately afterwards. I think you'd definitely like them, Dee!

  23. Melissa is awesome! That series is really good too! I'm hoping to read Heir of Fire this week. I told myself I had to finish some other books, so it's kind of my reward for doing so (I really just want to skip to it and not read those other books).

    ReplyDelete
  24. I thought Of Beast and Beauty was such an interesting story and very well written. I'm planning on loving all of these! :D

    ReplyDelete
  25. Isn't the cover awesome?!! It's a NA compilation that's on sale right now and proceeds go to raise funds for literacy. Definitely worth it. :)

  49. It's a meme where you link up the books you got each week, sharing them with everyone. I hope that clears that up. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thanks! I hope you like it if you get a chance to read it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. So glad you liked them! I do need to read them. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I've got that one to read and it's been high on my list too.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Of course. :) The question was more that I was curious what entrants were wanting. It's kind of interesting to see the trends and to also find new books.

    ReplyDelete
  56. :D cool, no many people know the saga o the author :(

    ReplyDelete
  71. If you live in the US, make sure you've entered the publisher-sponsored giveaway for the entire series here.

    ReplyDelete
  72. There isn't a lot of recap in Split Second, so it would be easiest to read them together so you don't have to remember who is who.

    ReplyDelete
  73. What a great bookish haul. Ironically, I just watched the Epic Reads ARC party video the other day in which they talked about Twisted Fate. Sounds like an interesting read - cannot wait to get your thoughts. :)
