Review: Madilyn Paige's Self-Titled Debut Music Album

Madilyn_paige_cd

This stunning self-titled debut EP features a set of tunes notable for their raw emotion and beautiful soundscapes. Madilyn wrote or co-wrote every song on the album, drawin from her own struggles as a teenager and her heartfelt expressions of the joy she finds in life. The first track, "Irreplaceable," begins with aching introspection and soars to an assurance of self-worth; the folloring track, "Foolish Game," was written right after Madilyn left the TV show The Voice and gives insight into the inevitability of discouragement in life and the realization that you can rise above the games that people play. An epic movie score string section combines with powerful rhythms on "Undercover," a breathtaking song about overcoming sadness and seeking the light all around you. The final track, "Little Things," playfully reminds us that the little things in life are the source of true joy.

My Review

We watch The Voice at our house and so I recognize Madilyn from the show. I was impressed with her vocals on the show and was curious what her album would sound like. I have to say that I really enjoyed the album. It was unique, catchy, poppy, and each song had a great message. It's an album that has already been added to my playlists.

I liked each of the songs. I especially loved Irreplaceable, which was my favorite song from the album, but also Foolish Game, Undercover, and Little Things. Let it Roll felt like a great song to dance or work out to. and Little Things reminded me of Colbie Caillat with its catchy and more laid-back tune. Its definitely a song I could sing to. All the songs were catchy on this album and I really liked Madilyn's voice. It just has this unique sound to it that makes her different from other mainstream singers. This is definitely music I can also play with the kids and let my tween daughter listen to.

Overall Madilyn Paige's debut was a great album. My only complaint would be that I wanted more. Seven songs, one being a remix, wasn't enough for me. She has a great voice and potential and I'm looking forward to future recordings. I'll definitely be re-listening to these songs in the meantime.

  8. Wow! She has a truly beautiful voice. I love the words to the song Irreplaceable. I really like these songs. I remember her slightly from The Voice, but this is something else. I love that she writes, and co-writes her own songs. Truly an artist. I would love to have this album. Thank you for this awesome post!

  14. Glad you enjoyed it! All the songs are positive - perfect to listen to with my daughter - and poppy, catchy, and good enough for us to both like it and re-listen. A lot.

  15. My husband and I don't have any little ones just yet, so I think it would be just me and the dogs listening to this album for a bit longer! Hubby instinct tells me this one wouldn't be for him!

  16. I would definitely say that if he doesn't like the first song then that would definitely be the case. My husband tends to not like female singers as much as guys, but some of that is do to song choice and just style.
