Summary

Ocean’s Eleven meets the star-crossed lovers of West Side Story. Grab some popcorn and get ready for an adrenaline-filled heist!

LEXI is a rich girl who loves a good rush. Whether it’s motorcycle racing or BASE jumping off a building in downtown Los Angeles, the only times she feels alive are when she and her friends are executing one of their dares. After her father’s arrest, Lexi doesn’t think twice about going undercover at his bank to steal the evidence that might clear his name. She enlists her hacker brother and her daredevil friends to plan a clever heist.

CHRISTIAN is a boy from the wrong side of the tracks. The local gang has blackmailed him and his friends into robbing banks, and he is desperate for a way out. When the boss promises that one really big job will be the last he ever has to do, Christian jumps at the chance for freedom. In fact, he’s just met a girl at the bank who might even prove useful. . . .

Two heists. One score. The only thing standing in their way is each other.

Told in alternating points of view, this caper is full of romance and fast-paced fun. Hand to fans of Perfect Chemistry, The Conspiracy of Us, and Heist Society.

My Review

SMASH & GRAB was a fun read with characters who readers won't be able to resist loving and a plot that slowly builds to a well-choreographed heist that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Enjoyable from beginning to end. If you enjoy books involving heists, cheering for the underdogs, friendships, and romance, then pick this one up!

Let's talk about these characters... The author wrote them in such an honest, likable way. I immediately related with them and felt some anger towards their situations. Lexi has some fairly screwed up parents, but foremost wants this sleazy guy to go down. I loved that even though she's smart and confident, she's also vulnerable. She's got an awesome group of friends as well as a brother who help run the show. Then there's Christian. I loved him! I was a little conflicted about who he was working for and I really disliked the pressure and threats put on him. Just honestly makes me mad. I loved how he was with his family and his group of buddies who all have their own issues. I also loved the chemistry between Christian and Lexi. There were some seriously fun and sweet moments between them.

Let's move on to the plot... It was steady and slowly-building. I loved how Lexi figures some things out here and there and then how the plot steadily grows so that I was hanging on there pretty good at one point. There were several moving pieces and even though I don't like bad guys, I could get behind this group of characters and cheer them on. I loved how well the story was well balanced too. The romance didn't take over, but was a very enjoyable and sweet part of the story.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was such a fun read! I wasn't sure about it at first and if I'd be able to cheer on a bank robbery, but in the end, it worked and it did so marvelously well.

Content: Swearing, some mild violence, innuendo.
