Summary

Fall in love with a little help from man's best friend in New York Times bestselling author Jenn McKinlay's contemporary romance debut.

Mackenzie "Mac" Harris fled her hometown of Bluff Point, Maine, after being left at the altar--and seeking solace in the arms of her best friend's off-limits brother. Now, seven years later, she's back to attend her best friend's wedding--safe, or so she thinks, from the mistakes of her youth.

But Gavin Tolliver has never forgotten the woman who has always held his heart. And when Mac rescues a stray puppy named Tulip, only Gavin, the town's veterinarian, can help. With a little assistance from Tulip, Gavin vows to make Mac realize that their feelings are more than just puppy love...

My Review

ABOUT A DOG is a fun chick-lit with lots of sizzle. There are wedding activities and friends spending time together while one of them tries to not completely fall in love with the bride's little brother. A story well balanced with humor, friendship, and romance that is sure to delight readers of the genre.

I grabbed this one day when I was looking for something on the lighter side. I wanted cute and romantic and fun. This is basically that, but with more heat that I was wanting. The love scenes are detailed and I was looking more for the closed-door type. Skimming over those, the rest of the story was enjoyable. I loved the friends and I loved the constant tug and pull between Mac and Gavin. Then there is Tulip... That dog is charming and I loved how the dog brings this story together. There were a few parts that dragged for me and others that were dramatic, but otherwise I enjoyed this one.

In the end, was it what I wished for? If you're looking for a fun romance with plenty of heat, then you should like this one.

Content: Detailed love scenes, innuendo, and some swearing.
Source: I received a complimentary e-ARC from the publisher through NetGalley, which did not require a review nor affect it in any way.
