Summary

Mariah thought Robin Hood was just a legend—until time pulled her into his world and the outlaw stole her heart.

Nothing about Mariah Clinton’s passion for archery or her work as a sous-chef in contemporary London prepares her for the moment she’s pulled into another time—and another life. One minute, she’s stepping into McQuivey’s Costume Shop to rent a medieval gown. The next, she’s standing in a castle kitchen in twelfth-century Nottingham—with no idea how she got there or how to return to modern time. Forced to pose as a kitchen servant, she must draw on ingenuity and courage to survive in a world in which she shouldn’t exist. But when her skill with a bow draws the attention of outlaws in Sherwood Forest, she’s swept into a conflict that is more dangerous—and more thrilling—than she could ever have imagined.

Robin Hood has spent years outwitting the sheriff, protecting the innocent, and keeping his men one step ahead of Prince John’s reach. But when he crosses paths with a mysterious archer who shoots like no woman he’s ever met, he knows she’s hiding something. Her words, her ways, even the fire in her eyes—none of it belongs in his time. Yet the more she stands at his side, the harder it becomes to imagine Sherwood Forest without her.

Mariah is torn between a past she understands in modern-day London and an uncertain future with an outlaw who has stolen her heart. But as the sheriff’s grip tightens and betrayal looms, one truth becomes clear—some choices are impossible to undo, and love, once found, is not so easily left behind.

My Review

DANGER AT DARKMOORE PARK is the third and final sister to have her own adventure in this series. Fans of the series will enjoy getting to see how the happily-ever-after comes about and those new to the series will be able to read and enjoy this story on its own. There is a motley crew of characters all gathered for a house party when death strikes and mystery ensues. Fans of cozy historical mysteries with a good dose of romance should enjoy this one.

I've enjoyed this series to date, with the first book being my favorite of the three. This third installment ties things up nicely as fans of the series get to see how Selena fairs. Life has progressed a bit since the last book and Selena now lives at Darkmoor Park where her and her sister's girls school also runs out of. She's there to help her benefactress hold a Christmas house party. There are a lot of different personalities in the group that comes with also a surprise guest in Dr. Scott. Some "accidents" happen and theories arise as too the why, which Selena can't let go. Her and Dr. Scott do some amateur sleuthing to seek hidden money and find out if there is a murderer.

This was a fairly light read with some overall suspense and mystery and some delightful sparks between Selena and Dr. Scott. I liked all the characters and found them to not be too similar as they had their own personalities. The relationships between them all were interesting, especially watching Selena's and Dr. Scott's unfold and develop into a romance. The romance did feel a bit quick to me, so I would have liked a bit more time to have passed, but it still worked and I felt like it had slightly less weight to the rest of the story. The author did a good job in hiding the villain until towards the end, which can be fairly difficult to do, and provided plenty of red herrings. There was a bit of drama and some missteps by Selena and Dr. Scott, as they were trying to figure out what was going on which leant some genuineness to the story.

I did want a bit more depth and development. Some parts felt too cheesy to me and I didn't connect as well to Selina as I did to her sisters in the other books. Some parts felt a bit unrealistic to me as well.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was an overall enjoyable story. Mostly light and sweet except as the suspense grew towards the end.

Summary

Light always finds a way to break free . . .

Noelle Perrault has felt drawn to the tales her glassmaker father told of the four Firefly artisans since she was a child. But when her mother falls under a curse, Noelle suspects the stories are more than mere fables. Their last hope is for her father to embark on a desperate journey to another realm, where he must seek a miracle. Alone but not defenseless, Noelle is forced to navigate battles that rise against her beloved home, while her dearest friend, the prince, vows to help her father.

Dante Marin is a prince prepared to bear the crown. But the king offers an ultimatum: find the fabled Firefly Vestiges, believed to hold the Lamplighter’s ancient power, or forfeit the crown. Only then will Dante be considered worthy of his birthright and given the freedom to choose his bride. But how does one hunt down a legend?

Connected by the past, but forced apart in the present, Noelle and Dante must discover the truth about the Firefly and Vestiges before they lose all hope—and each other—for good. But breaking a curse comes at a great sacrifice—one neither of them predicted. With a mysterious foe rising to power, will they survive, let alone succeed? Or will darkness shroud their future, shattering the light they’ve striven to restore?

My Review

GLASS ACROSS THE SEA is a young adult fantasy retelling of Cinderella, but one in which the author makes this story completely her own. The characters are well drawn, with an immersive world, and an intriguing plot. Recommended to fans of the classic fairy tale or fantasy.

I've read several of this author's books and always find them to be very creative. This book is no different. I enjoyed how she meshed The Count of Monte Cristo with Cinderella letting the characters tell this story. The whole preface was interesting and fun to to read in this fantasy world. I also really liked the characters. There's definitely some good character development as they come into their own. They also didn't feel flat, but each had their distinct personalities that came alive on the page. I also liked how things were a bit messy. There was heartache, illness, different shades of villains and heroes (perfect for morally gray fans), and romance that was sweet and a bit star-crossed. There were also different overall themes that the author did a good job in weaving through the story without anything being too pointed.

I did have a few things I would have liked developed a bit more. Some of the scenes/chapters/events didn't always have good transitions. Some parts didn't feel realistic (like not knowing a main guard or servant, but completely trusting them, and having a mom who supposedly doesn't remember anything but when she does, putting up with someone who is mistreating her and not letting her daughter see her to name a few). They also really talked up The Order, but there's no movement or development in the story where you actually see them. Other things also could have been fleshed out more.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was an intriguing fantasy with likable characters and an engaging plot. This is an enjoyable story for fans of retellings, fantasy or this author.

About the Author

Once upon a time, Sara Ella brought dreams to life as a Disney cast member, wishing for the day she’d find her prince and live in a castle of her own. Now she spends her days homeschooling her three Jedi in training, braving the Arizona summers, and reminding her superhero husband that it’s almost Christmas (even if it’s only January). Sara is the award-winning author of The Wonderland Trials, Coral, and the Unblemished trilogy. She is old enough for fairy tales and believes happily ever after is never far away.

More from Sara

Whenever I start writing a new story, I always comb the internet for the perfect images to represent my characters. Sometimes it’s an actress or actor who fits the character description. Other times, I’ll find some artwork or a painting that fits the picture I have in my mind.

But when it came to finding the right image to represent Noelle Perrault, the protagonist of Glass Across the Sea, I could not for the life of me find what I was looking for. Partly because the heroine is heavily based on my oldest daughter, who shares the same name. No image online was good enough to represent a character and novel dedicated to her.

And then I found this painting titled “Cinderella’s New Day” by artist Heather Edwards back in 2023.

And that was it! “So This is Love” from Disney’s animated classic began playing in my head, and I knew I’d found the image I would keep in my mind for the duration of writing my Cinderella retelling.

This depiction is soft and sweet and felt personal in a way a photo of an actress didn’t. I also felt this painting captured the character and personality of my heroine in a way that would keep me going, even on my most difficult writing days.

Fast forward to 2024. I was behind on my book deadline and life’s interruptions kept getting in the way of my writing. I felt depleted and almost asked my publisher to cancel my contract. But then I attended an event where this same artist had her work on display, and there it was. The real-life, in-person canvas of this very same painting.

That moment felt like God was reminding me He had called me to write this book in the first place. That He had a plan for it and wanted me to keep going. This very painting is the reason I added this line to Glass Across the Sea:

Art, in her view, was never a laughing matter. A piece might evoke hope in one while it produced sorrow in the heart of another. It was the same for music. For dance.

And then came 2025. A year of grief and loss in many ways for our family. Once again, everything was getting in the way of this story ever making it to print. And, once again, I considered maybe it was not meant to be published after all. Through many tears and long nights, I revised, pushing to meet deadlines. I questioned if it was worth it. I questioned my own strength and writing abilities, only to be reminded that it is only through God’s grace and Christ’s strength I can do anything at all.

I came across this painting in person again this year at that same event. And, just as it had done in the past, this painting reminded me there was a “new day” just around the corner. My best friend, Nadine Brandes (she knows me so well), surprised me with a signed and personalized canvas print that day. The timing could not have been more perfect.

This painting is more than just a reminder to “have courage and be kind.” It’s a testament to God’s goodness and faithfulness, even amidst darkness and pain. My prayer for Glass Across the Sea is that it blesses readers in the same way this painting has blessed me. Wherever you find yourself today, I hope you keep going and trust the Lord to give you what you need in the moment you need it. In my experience, He often reveals Himself in the unexpected corners and small moments I least suspect.

Summary

An Appalachian farmer’s daughter and a wealthy businessman find a surprising love but must reckon with what divides them in this retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice by the award-winning author of The Lady and the Lionheart.

New River, Virginia. 1904. Lizbeth Bennet longs to preserve her family’s farm, securing a future for her and her sisters, a difficult task in their Appalachian coal mining town. Money is scarce, and Lizbeth is determined to find a way without giving up treasured pieces of her family’s legacy. But when the mine is put up for sale, it’s clear change is approaching. A contingent of coal barons descends on the town to investigate whether the mine is worth their investment, among them a young man rumored to be a very rich, eligible bachelor.

William Drake arrives focused on business and keeping his distance from the townspeople, especially those living on land entangled with the mine, including a farmer by the name of Bennet. As William digs through legal issues, his struggle to weigh the potential financial gain against what is right for the community grows more complicated when he meets one of the Bennet daughters.

Despite an awkward first meeting, Lizbeth and William continue to cross paths, and soon Lizbeth questions her first impression of the man she believed to be proud and indifferent. But just as their friendship begins to evolve, a revelation shakes Lizbeth’s tenuous trust, and she learns all may not be as it seems. To determine what is true, and step toward a love she’s barely dared dream of, Lizbeth must confront her own prejudices . . . and decide whether the future she’s always imagined is the one her heart truly wants most after all.

An inspirational historical romance retelling of Pride and Prejudice for fans of Julie Klassen, Sally Britton, and Sarah E. Ladd. A clever, clean love story. Southern historical fiction in the vein of Michelle Shocklee and Pepper Basham. Includes discussion questions for book clubs.

Excerpt

Lizbeth Bennet clutched the handle of the wicker basket with hope. The same hope with which she’d gathered each and every wildflower within. Slipping inside the farmhouse, she traded the brightness of day for the dim light of Ma’s kitchen—the very heartbeat of Bennet Hollow.

“Did you spot the new train car, by chance?” Jayne asked from the table, her voice as soft and mountain grown as a wild birch grove. “They say it’s called the Pemberley.”

Lizbeth lowered the basket to the table and handed a sprig of lacy white yarrow to her older sister. “I didn’t wander far enough. Have you seen it yourself? This Pemberley?” Having just come in from the sunny garden, she brushed her hands clean and sat. “Clearly I’ve missed the gossip.”

“I saw it when I walked into town this mornin’.” Jayne examined the contents of the
basket. Her golden hair was bound up in rag curlers, and a single band of gray twine
wrapped her pale wrist, holding a tiny nugget of violet amethyst that Pa, a geologist, had unearthed in a mine. “It’s the prettiest sight, Lizzy. Brighter than a new penny perched there right on the track.”

Lizbeth rolled back the sleeves of her striped work dress and tried to imagine such a view. A breeze blew cool against her bare neck from the open window, causing her homespun collar to flutter. Her sisters had been on the lookout ever since some weeks back, when the owner of the New River Coal Company had announced his coming guests—a slew of coal barons and investors, all eager to bid on the property that was now for sale.

And the best part of all among the Bennet sisters . . . the dance that would mark their arrivals.

My Review

TOGETHER THIS CHRISTMAS is a sweet small-town holiday romance about two best friends and second chances. The characters are likable with some great side characters and family. There's some comedic situations, sweet moments, and plenty of sparks. Definitely a quick read to pick up for a delightful romance that will hit you just right for the holidays!

I honestly read this one all in one sitting. I needed something cute, festive and fun to escape into, and this was perfect for that, and had added sparks as well! The characters were relatable and lovable. Ben is this guy-next-door who has been Mila's best friend for forever. He's rugged, charming, warm, and likes to have fun. Mila is this driven, goal-focused gal who has her life all planned out with an emphasis on being safe. She's worked hard to get where she is. Through happenstance Mila is back with Ben and her other friends in their small town for a wedding and Ben has his last chance to see if he can win Mila. What ensues is a delightful story with all the feels.

My only concern was the aspect of the heroine already being in a committed relationship with someone else. I was worried there might be cheating, but thankfully the author handled it in just the right way to make it work for me.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This is a delightful story! Definitely one to grab if you're in need of a little holiday romance that is sweet with some sparks, has great characters, and some small-town charm!

The Stories We Carry
By Robin W. Pearson
Christian Southern Women's Fiction
Audiobook, Hardcover, Paperback & eBook, 352 Pages
October 7, 2025 by Tyndale Fiction

Summary

A small-town bookstore owner finds herself at odds with a newcomer bent on disrupting her quiet life in this Southern women’s fiction novel by award-winning author Robin W. Pearson.

Glory Pryor has carved out a life for herself in Gilmore, North Carolina, cultivating a community around her bookstore, By the Book. While her business is a success, she carries the weight of stories of her own she’s never told anyone. She holds out hope that one day her estranged brother will turn up on her doorstep so she can finally learn where he’s been all these years. Glory’s husband Eli thinks she has her arms wrapped too tightly around the could-have-beens, and that it’s time for them to let go of the store as they head into their retirement years. Glory has different opinions on that—she’s not ready to give up the dream she’s built just yet. Then Adelle Simonette shows up with her young son, Bennett, and Glory’s carefully controlled life begins to crumble.

Newly widowed Adelle Simonette is a single mother trying to find her footing and navigate parenting her young son. Lost in her grief, one thing she’s certain of is that she needs to confront Glory Pryor and everybody who knows her because the woman’s been living a lie. Adelle thinks it’s high time Glory made things right. But Adelle’s finding it hard to tell the truth . . . and there will be no going back once she does.

In the wake of deeply personal grief and loss, two women reckon with a lifetime of silence and secrets to find a path forward toward healing, hope, and restoration.

Author Interview

What inspired this story?

When my peeps and I read The Count of Monte Cristo, I became fascinated with the idea of
righteous vengeance. Here was this character, Edmond Dantès, tragically and falsely
imprisoned, who finally acquires the means to right decades of wrong. Would he, and most
important, should he? We had lots of fun discussing the question, Does the Count act with
godly authority?

I bandied about this idea long after we finished that book, and a different face supplanted
his—the image of my own character, Adelle Simonette, a young, widowed mother. But, if
she’s the hero, who is the villain, at least in Adelle’s mind? That’s where Glory and Eli Pryor
and their bookstore come in.

In my novel, Glory and Adelle tell themselves different versions of the same story: One says
God failed her. The other believes God will avenge her. Yet, they’re both wrong. That’s
because life doesn’t work the way a narrative unfolds in the classics; often, there’s no
obvious good guy or bad guy or reasonable motive. And this leads to what I show in The
Stories We Carry: we have to trust God to use all our stories for good and not harm

What messages or themes do you focus on in this book?

The overarching message in The Stories We Carry is that God is the source and the
foundation of all that’s good and true—from what we believe to what we read. This novel also
reflects the beauty and the strength of community, and it’s filled with characters who prove
that family is what we make it.

How does faith play a role in this story?

One of the biblical passages I drew from to write The Stories We Carry comes from Hosea
6:1: “Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces; now he will heal us. He has
injured us; now he will bandage our wounds.”

In my novel, Glory Pryor thinks she’s run far enough and long enough from God that He’ll
never find her. But it turns out that He’s never left her. Adelle Simonette wields her faith like a
weapon instead of using it to soothe her own wounded heart. For both women, the LORD
wastes no effort—or painful memory and experience—to reveal His great love and save
them from themselves

What about this book excited you while writing it, and what do you hope readers will
learn?

I loved creating scripture-inspired, original poetry and showing how our Creator reveals
Himself through His Word and our words, even in places and within pages where you
wouldn’t expect to find Him. Isn’t that how He works in our everyday lives?

Also, as a wife of thirty years and a mama of many, I enjoyed the challenge of portraying a
mature, yet newly married couple whose only children were their books; their closest family
members were “found” or created within their small community. I hope this novel shows
readers that our hearts are big enough—and our world is small enough—to connect with
others by providing a meal, holding a hand, or starting a conversation. We never know when
we could be inviting Jesus to the table, as in Matthew 25:37-40.

What are your passions and how do they impact your writing?

Caring for my family is my greatest blessing. They’re why I write and why I can’t write more.
My peeps—including my dog, Oscar, who generously shared his name with the four-legged
character in The Stories We Carry—both inspire and distract me, usually simultaneously.
Because we’re homeschoolers—another great passion of mine—I’m always teaching and
learning and feeding my love of words, books, and all things literary. Our somewhat flexible,
yet hectic, schedule, provides opportunities to spend time with people of all ages as we
travel hither and yon, so I’m always adding to my cast of characters, creating dialogue, and
discovering new settings. And cooking, sweeping, and stacking sneakers on the stairs

What do you find to be the most challenging part of the writing process? What advice
would you offer young writers?

Remembering my why constantly challenges me. I’ve been called to write about how faith in
Jesus changes our perspective and affects our relationships. That’s the most important story
I carry. I encourage young writers to know their why and hold on to it so the how of their
work—platform building, querying, reviews, sales, social media, outlining, meeting
deadlines—doesn’t detract from their main purpose: conveying the truth God has led them to
share, whether in fiction or nonfiction.

What books or authors have shaped you recently?

Australian author Liane Moriarty’s manner of plopping readers smack into her novels inspires
me to help readers “move into” my North Carolina–based stories. In her latest, Here One
Moment,
Moriarty paints a vivid picture of all the history her characters are toting around and
how their pasts weave together and affect each other. Johanna Rojas Vann’s An American
Immigrant
emphasizes the impact of an individual’s life and voice and how staying true to
them can change the world—one story, one family, one community at a time.

About the Author

Robin W. Pearson's writing sprouts from her Southern roots, where she learned to sing “Jesus Loves Me,” how to make corn bread taste like pound cake, and the all-purpose uses of Vaseline. Her family's faith, life lessons, and life's longings inspired her to write about God's love for us and how His love affects all our relationships. Summary

What they don’t see will hurt them.

The day to open the centuries-old Dome gates and reintegrate genetically engineered people back into normal society has arrived. There’s one caveat—their powers must remain suppressed.

Amidst this Project Integration Initiative, hacker Ryleigh Stevens has her whole life planned out. The plan? Prevent a second Universal Tech War in two simple steps. First, help Project Integration Phase One succeed—but not for the reason she pretends. Next, infiltrate the rebellion and sabotage Phase Two—the part that would grant people unbridled access to their superhuman abilities.

Too bad the one person who can make her plan reality is her sworn enemy. He’s dangerous. He’s Powered. And he’s the reason her brother is dead. Faced with an impossible choice, Ryleigh must decide how to do what’s right for the good of all humanity, even if it means sacrificing everything she holds dear—again.

About the Author

With a name like S.D. Grimm, how could she be anything but a writer of fantasy and sci-fi with equal parts sparkle and darkle? Always the dreamer, she’s been sorted into Gryffindor, she checks wardrobes for secret worlds, and has a blue lightsaber. She is the author of several young adult titles spanning many speculative genres, and she works as a freelance editor and writing coach. Her office is anywhere she can curl up with her laptop and at least one dog.

 More from the Author

What makes a fantasy writer change lanes and enter the world of science fiction?

My story actually goes back to that famous phrase “never say never.” I have ALWAYS loved both genres equally. If the question is Star Wars or LOTR? X-Men or Harry Potter? Hunger Games or Vampire Diaries? My answer is going to be, Why not all of it? But I always said I’d never write sci-fi. The reason? I didn’t think I’d ever be able to pull it off.

That’s one of the fun things about being a writer though . . . you get these little glimmers of shiny story ideas that just won’t stop sparkling in your mind. And eventually you follow the spark, and well, the rest is history.

Beneath False Stars started like that for me. But because I still believed I’d never be able to write a good sci-fi, I’d just write it for fun. To create for creation’s sake. And it was fun! Having a project that existed as something no one would ever read gave me permission to try new things, stretch my storytelling in new and exciting ways. And after a long period of burnout, this story carried me back into the heart of why I write. It was exactly what I needed.

But that wasn’t all.

Remember, it was never my intention to actually share this book. But it became something that I was too excited about to NOT share. So I tested the waters. When several writer friends read it and told me it was their favorite of all my books to date, I knew it was something that was never meant to sit in a drawer. In a way that scared me.

So, I did what the main character in the book would have told me to do—I decided not to let my fears win. And I shared. And now it’s going to be in print! That only goes to show that when a project you’re passionate about pulls at your heartstrings for attention, listen. You don’t have to know that project’s future. Just revel in its present, and let yourself create. <3

Summary

They met chasing dreams on national TV.

What they found was something bigger than fame.

Austin Blake always thought ranch life was his future—until a chance encounter at a dusty Montana bar lands him a spot on Real American Country, a televised music competition that could change everything. When he meets Willow Gracin, a fiercely talented singer from Savannah with a heart full of lyrics and something to prove, sparks fly—on and off the stage.

As the cameras roll and the music plays, Austin and Willow find a connection deeper than either expected. But when the spotlight fades, life has its own rhythm—one that tests their strength, their love, and everything they thought they knew about purpose and passion.

When a tragic diagnosis threatens to silence their love song, country music stars Austin and Willow must fight for a future together in a way they never imagined. Spanning a decade of soaring highs and devastating lows, this is a story about the love you hold onto, the legacy you leave behind, and the music that carries you home, even after the last note has faded.

Excerpt

My phone buzzed beside me on the porch railing, screen lighting up with a message
that already had me smiling before I even opened it.

Austin: You gotta see this sunset

Attached was a photo that looked almost unreal—like the sky had caught fire in that split second before the dark swallowed it whole. Nearly crimson clouds, streaks of orange and gold.

I leaned back in the porch swing and snapped my own photo—the lowcountry sky cotton-candy soft, streaked with violet and peach.

Me: Nice try, but nothing beats a Georgia sky

His reply was instant.

Austin: True. But that’s because it has you to admire it, so it’s definitely winning.

Gemma appeared out of nowhere, sipping her tea like she hadn’t just been watching me from the window. “You two are like a slow-burn country song, you know that, right?”

I rolled my eyes, but the heat on my cheeks gave me away. “We’re just friends, Gem.”

“Mmm-hmm,” she said, unimpressed. “I’m calling it now—your first duet? Gonna be titled The Line We Won’t Cross. Top Ten hit. Radio gold.”

I grabbed the outdoor throw pillow and lobbed it at her head. She ducked, grinning, and walked off humming some fake country tune just to drive the point home as she walked back into the house.
