Summary

He can’t buy his way out of trouble this time…

Housekeeper-slash-entrepreneur Ella Bradley prides herself on being ready for anything. After all, with a father who died—and lied to her—and a stepmom and stepsister who despise her, she has no one else to depend on. But on the biggest night of her life, she’s unprepared to be trapped in an elevator with the man of her dreams.

Wealthy prince-to-a-fortune Adrian Vassos wants nothing more than to shed his reputation as a party boy and prove that he is a savvy businessman. Even, a gentleman. But when he’s trapped with a woman who knows his reputation but not his face, he gives into the temptation to be someone else—and lies.

When serendipity brings them together again—this time to work off community service—can their combined sentences spark a new ending? Maybe…if Adrian’s lies don’t find him out. Again.

The magic of Deep Haven enchants in this modern-day Cinderella story.

My Review

CAN'T BUY ME LOVE is a story of second chances, forgiveness and letting go all wrapped up in a delightfully sweet romance. This is a story with small-town charm that will make readers laugh, sigh from some swoon-worthy moments, and finish inspired to trust more in the God who loves them. Definitely recommended to sweet inspirational romance readers and fans of Deep Haven.

I really loved both of the main characters from the start! The meet cute was so much fun! Getting stuck in an elevator for a little bit definitely allowed these characters to share parts of themselves and also produced some great banter. I loved how Ella had dreams to really change the world in her own way and the down-to-earth woman she was. I also loved how Adrian was fun and charming, but also had a level of integrity and desire to do what was right. They both had baggage so there were some things that they had to work through to find happiness in the end.

I also loved the setting in Deep Haven with all the small-town charm and lots of cameos from favorite characters. The story had some great moments, both of friendship, of romance and of introspection and faith. Then there was the plot of a this big-city wealthy guy, Adrian, who doesn't think he'll be staying in the town long, who wants to build a resort and water park to prove something to his dad, and finds that the town and one girl in particular has stolen his heart. Add in Ella's role of trying to find herself and make a life doing what she believes in, who has her own self-doubts and anger towards her deceased father, and a town that has become a home and found family to her. It was an entertaining story that kept me turning the pages from beginning to end.

I did have a few minor issues with the story here and there. Nothing too serious. Some parts felt a bit too unrealistic. I also wanted Ella to actually have to fight for Adrian. She got a bit crazy and I wasn't completely sure she actually deserved Adrian so I wanted her to have to make it up to him more than she did.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This is a delightful story, set in a charming town, with wonderful characters. Lots of feels with this one and a story that will leave readers inspired and happily content.
