Summary

“Beneath the harvest moon…
true love can bloom.”

A single dad, who’s in over his head, and an event planner running from her past, are drawn together on charming Bluestar Island by a determined seven-year-old and her escape-artist goat.

Event planner, Charlotte “Aster” Smith, has fled the only life she has ever known. The situation has left her questioning her own judgment as she cautiously tries to create a new life for herself on Bluestar Island. Taking the job of event coordinator for the small town is a step in the right direction. The only problem is it’s currently a part-time position, but the mayor suggests with additional funding the position could transform into a full-time job. In the meantime, she needs a second job in order to stay financially afloat.

Farmer and single father, Sam Bell, is struggling to keep his aging farm from going bankrupt while raising his young daughter. And now that his daughter’s babysitter is heading off to college, he needs help. So when he finds Aster is in need of work, he thinks his problems are solved. But things aren’t always what they seem. And he can’t help wondering what Aster is keeping from him.

In the lingering rays of a Bluestar Island sunset, Sam and Aster find themselves dancing upon the sand. As they help each other heal, the possibility of a future together becomes tangible. But will the ghosts from their pasts extinguish this budding romance?

Includes a delicious recipe for Aster’s Amazing Apple Cobbler!

My Review

HARVEST DANCE is a story about two characters who have to let go in order to find a new happily-ever-after. The characters are likable with a charming, small-island setting and one particularly adorable little girl and her favorite goat. A sweet story for clean romance readers.

This story started off full of emotional trauma and then calmed down as the heroine starts over on a small island. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and the island they live on. I have to say that the small-town feel on the island was a wonderful part of this story. I loved how involved everyone was in each others' lives and the love you could feel they had for each other. It made the story feel very cozy. I also adored the goats, particularly Dash, and the hero's daughter who loved him. The romance was sweet and slowly built throughout the story. I liked both of the main characters. Of course I expected a happy ending, but wasn't quite sure how they would get there. I definitely will be visiting this island again to go back and read the first book and book three when it releases.

I think my only frustrations with the story had to do with some of the parts where the characters' internal thoughts told the story too much and the way the characters revisited the same argument over and over with falling in love. I thought they'd realized and accepted what was happening and then they would go through it all again the next chapter. I think I would have liked that worked through better so it didn't feel redundant. I felt the two main characters reactions were too dramatic in places. I think I'm just anti-drama though, so others may be perfectly fine with it.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was an enjoyable story with wonderful characters and a sweet romance. Plus goats with plenty of personality. Recommended to clean and sweet romance readers.

Content: An assault on a woman that may be a trigger for some (not overly descriptive), but clean.
