My Review

FREY is a fabulous start to this fantasy series, with a magical world and characters who are not at all what they seem. The story feels mysterious from the beginning and continues to grow as Frey journeys to discover who she is. Fantasy fans are sure to enjoy stepping into this world.

Frey is an interesting character. At times, she came across as rather childish due to her situation. Other times I really liked her. She definitely grew on me through the series. I loved Chevelle and each of the other characters as they came into the story. Ruby is particularly fun. The story moves at a decent pace as Frey begins to piece together her past and I enjoyed piecing things together along with her. The ending was also quite climatic and I'm hoping the next book will uncover a lot more information.

In the end, was it what I wished for? I really enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the rest of the series!

Content: Some violence, but clean.

My Review

PIECES OF EIGHT begins where the first book, FREY, left off. There is quite a bit of mystery, danger, and romance begins to bloom. The characters readers met in the first book become more familiar and secrets are revealed. An overall enjoyable read.

In FREY, there is so much that Frey doesn't know and she's trying to work things through in her mind while she travels and meets other members of her entourage. Her past being such a mystery didn't bother me in the first book, but in this second one I was ready for someone to explain everything so she didn't make such a muddle of things. It took a long time to get where Frey, and thus the reader, knew what had happened in the past and what was going on. The good thing is that the characters continue to shine. I continued to fall in love with them all. The danger also continues to be prevalent and a little more romance comes into play, which kept things interesting.

In the end, was it what I wished for? The not knowing what had happened and who Frey really is began to frustrate me in this book, but the characters and other aspects of the story kept me reading. If you've read the first book and enjoyed it, it's definitely work continuing on.

Content: One closed-door scene and some violence, but clean for the genre.

Summary

Molly dreamed her whole life of living in a world of magic... until the day she walked into one.

This short story falls between The Frey Saga Book Two: Pieces of Eight and the third book, Rise of The Seven.

My Review

MOLLY is a short story describing a human that the main characters meet in the second book of the series. Molly is quite naive and portrays a human who has always dreamed of being chosen by a fairy to escape her mundane life. Of course, this comes true, but everything doesn't quite turn out as she has dreamed.

I didn't love Molly and the story is more background than anything as it pertains to the series, so I didn't mind reading it, but I think it's something that you could choose to read or not read. It just added a little more understanding into who she is and why she did what she did.

Content: Some innuendo and violence, but clean for the genre.

My Review

RISE OF THE SEVEN continues to move forward this series where Frey has regained her memory and past threats are no longer relevant, but there are still new dangers to be faced. Readers can expect to fall in love with these characters even more and enjoy the twists in the plot.

I really enjoyed this one. I was so happy that Frey finally has her memories back, although she is still unstable with her magic. I really have come to love these characters with all their various quirks and traits. There were some seriously great parts in this story, both heartbreaking, sweet, and in the action area. I'm hoping eventually we can get to a happily-ever-after.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This third book was enjoyable from beginning to end and I'm looking forward to more from this series!

Content: One closed-door scene and some violence, but clean for the genre.

My Review

VENOM AND STEEL is a story full of danger and deception set partly in Frey's world and partly in that of the fairies. The characters are stretched and challenged with an ending that will hold readers on the edge of their seats. A fantastic addition to this series!

This may be my favorite of the series. There are a lot of moving pieces and important players and I liked how everything plays out. I also thought the fairies were fabulously portrayed and those who love stories with fairies will definitely enjoy them here. I liked how the main characters branched off as it showed a little more to their personalities and strengths and also added a different dynamic to the story. The danger really ramps up in this one and I couldn't read it fast enough.

In the end, was it what I wished for? I loved this one and can't wait for the next book! I'm also hoping that there will be a future story for Frey's half-sister.

Content: One closed-door scene and some violence (particularly more gruesome due to the fairies), but clean for the genre.
