Christian Romantic Suspense
Paperback & ebook, 346 Pages

Summary

She must choose between the man who represents the law and the one who may have taken it into his own hands.

Neglected by her parents for most of her life, Nicole Hunter keeps everyone, especially men, at arms’ length. So when Attorney Gage Kelly walks into the diner where she is waiting tables one evening, she fights her attraction to him with everything she has.

Gage and his brother Holden grew up in an abusive home, and Gage has baggage of his own. But the connection between him and Nicole is too strong to ignore, and Gage manages to convince them both that their relationship is worth the risk.

Then children begin disappearing in the night.

When Detective Daniel Grey starts to close in on the child snatcher, and enlists Nicole’s help, she faces her deepest fear. Everything and everyone she has clung to so tightly could be ripped from her, leaving her completely alone.

Except for one.

Top Ten Clues You Might be Reading Too Many Christian Suspense Novels

1) You take to speeding or talking on your phone while driving in an attempt to arrange encounters with a local law enforcement officer. As the two of you chat, you silently assess him to determine if he is someone you would want on your “protective detail” should your life ever be threatened.

2) You trust no one, including family members and people you have known all your life, unwilling to discount the possibility that they could be playing a long-term endgame with you.

3) While paying for your groceries, you cast furtive glances at the new bag boy, wondering where he came from all of a sudden. When he offers, you refuse to allow him to help you out with your purchases in case he plans to run your plates and find out where you live.

4) You start sporadically missing spin class, Bible study, and pick-up for your kids because you need to change up your daily routine in an effort to throw anyone who might be following you off track.

5) You stop taking casseroles to new people moving into the neighbourhood because you prefer to stay under their radar if they are—as you assume them to be—up to no good.

6) Before entering your vehicle, you run your hand under the bumper and fender, checking for tracking devices. On days where you are feeling particularly jumpy, you get down on your hands and knees to check for bombs duct-taped to the undercarriage. Even when everything looks okay, you turn the key in the ignition slowly, listening for that tell-tale click.

7) You actually do hear a click one day and launch yourself from the vehicle, dropping and rolling across the lawn and landing at the feet of your very startled mailman.

8) You speculate as to how your mailman happened to be in the neighbourhood at the exact moment you are almost blown to bits by a bomb.

9) Everything anyone says to you starts to sound suspicious, so when the barista at Starbucks asks if you want her to leave room in your cup for dairy, you instinctively duck, wondering if dairy is a code word they are sending to someone that this would be a good opportunity to take you out.

10) You spend an embarrassing afternoon at the garage attempting to explain to your mechanic that you didn’t intend to actually kick your taillight out—you were merely testing it to see how hard it would be to do so if you were ever tied up and tossed into your trunk.
