Summary

He's not looking for trouble...

Montana rancher Knox Marshall's danger years are behind him. A former bull-rider, he now runs the Marshall family ranch, raising champion bucking bulls for the National Professional Bullrider's Expo (NBR-X). Wealth and success are his, but life is stable, expected, and…ordinary. But he wants more from life...

But trouble is looking for her...

Kelsey Jones just wants a safe life, a family, a home. Onstage, the beautiful rising star of the Yankee Belles becomes the person she longs to be - vivacious and confident - burying the brokenness she carries from a violent assault. Becoming NBR-X’s next country act is key to outrunning her past and achieving the success and security she craves.

When trouble finds them both...

Knox and Kelsey's paths collide when an explosion at an NBR-X event traps them in the rubble and leaves them reeling. Kelsey’s crippling nightmares return, but for Knox, an obsession to find the bomber is ignited.

What will it cost him to protect her?

When Kelsey’s past threatens Knox’s family, he'll have to choose between saving the Marshall legacy or becoming the protector he's always longed to be.

The explosive first book in the Montana Marshalls series!

My Review

KNOX starts off with a bit of a bang and continues to keep readers on the edge of their seat through most of the book. With a rugged and charming cowboy as the leading man and a country singer with a tortured past as the leading lady, readers will have no difficulty falling in love with these characters and cheering them on to the climatic end. Recommended to fans of the author and inspirational romantic suspense fans who like their stories on the intense side.

I really enjoyed this story the introduces a family of cowboys and cowgirls and the ranch they call home. The oldest Marshall brother's story was in a previous series and here we get to really get to know the other part of his life, although he is not the focal point of this story and you don't need to have read the other series to enjoy this one.

Knox is one of those steady gentleman who feels solid—like you can rely on him, trust his word, and that he'll keep your heart safe. Kelsey is an up-and-coming country singer who needs a steady place to land and Knox and her meet at the perfect moment. I enjoyed their relationship as they tried to figure out if it's real and if their attraction was more than just that. There's plenty of back and forth and Kelsey had warranted trust issues. I loved how Knox really steadied her, but that she also brought so much light into his life and how much he really needed to live. She pushed him in the right direction. Tate's story also began here and continues into the next book. I loved their dynamic and really all the Marshall siblings as well as their mother. There was such a great feeling of family in this book and I loved that!

There were a few things that I felt could have used a little more development, but there wasn't much to complain about.

In the end, was it what I wished for? I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to more from this series. This family is so dynamic and I know there are lots of stories to tell and happily-ever-afters to find.
