Interview
Welcome to my blog today, Colleen! I appreciate you being willing to answer some questions about TIGER’S DREAM and this series.
Q: Did you always plan on this being a five-book series?
From day one I knew where I wanted the story to go. I didn’t know it would be five books until I got to Destiny and realized I couldn’t fit the whole thing in one book. As it is, I could’ve cut Dream into part one and part too as well. It’s still too big! I’m so happy to finally finish telling the whole story. I think readers will be surprised.
Q: For those who may not be familiar with The Tiger Saga, what should they know?
First, they should know that Tiger’s Promise is an important piece of the puzzle and one that shouldn’t be skipped. The books need to be read in order. Don’t pick up Dream and think you can go back. It won’t work. Everything happens in the order it should so start at the beginning and move on from there.
Q: What has been your favorite thing about writing this series?
I love these characters. They are a part of me now and I don’t think I’ll ever feel the same way about any other series. I suppose it’s like a first love. You never forget that feeling. When I began the series, it was just about the love of story and totally letting my creativity flow. Now there are a whole mess of business things that distract me from the writing so I liked how it was a pure creative experience in the beginning.
Q: What was new and exciting or unexpected to you as you wrote TIGER’S DREAM?
The most shocking thing was just how long the book was. I didn’t fully realize how much there was left to tell and I loved immersing myself in that world again. The words just flowed out of me and it practically wrote itself.
Q: This fifth book is being published as an Indie… how did publishing it as such affect the process and this book?
Ah. Since I was under contract with another publishing house, I had to wait a long time to write Dream. Too long for my readers. The sizing is a bit off from the others and everyone wishes it was in hardback which just isn’t possible at this point. I wish it was! I’d like a lovely hardback of my own. In a perfect world, this one would have followed Destiny the next year but it wasn’t meant to be. Still, I’m proud to get this one out into the world.
Q: If you were to sum up the book in one sentence, what would you say?
I’d say, “Some curses are meant to be.”
