My Review

SUN AND SIZZLE was a fun cookbook with simple, but flavorful recipes perfect for warmer weather. Categories include entrées, side dishes/appetizers, drinks, desserts, and breakfast/sweet rolls. There is also a grilling tips page as well as a steak temperature sheet. Each recipe includes simple directions, serving sizes, as well as a picture. A wonderful cookbook for lighter and enjoyable meals!

BBQ Chicken Wraps

The recipes included a good mix of healthy and comfort foods. There is also a good variety. The entrées section has sandwiches, wraps, pasta, and a few other meat dishes. The side dishes/appetizers section includes stand-alone vegetables and various salads. The drinks section was really fun with a few colorful and sweet non-alcoholic drinks. The desserts section includes a sampling of ice creams, cupcakes, bars, and other desserts. The breakfast/sweet rolls section has some tasty twists on some breakfast basics.

Chicken Teriyaki Pitas

I tried several recipes and have more to try out. We, including the kids, enjoyed all of the recipes. I did add cilantro to the BBQ Chicken Wraps, and caramelized onions and tomatoes to the Chicken Teriyaki Pitas. The Margherita French Bread was divine, especially with homegrown tomatoes. I also added less cayenne pepper to the Shrimp, Chicken, and Veggie Pasta since not all the kids like spicy things. I would have never thought of adding cayenne at all and it was a nice addition. I plan on continuing to try these recipes out and to also visit the chef's blog. With a busy family, I'm all about easy and tasty recipes, which is one main focus of Miller's cookbook and blog.

Margherita French Bread

In the end, was it what I wished for? Yes. I would have liked more recipes, maybe a basic chicken and steak rub to use with the recipes that called for grilled meat, but otherwise this was an enjoyable cookbook and one I can see using consistently in the future, especially during the summer when I want lighter meals.
