Summary
Nora Ellsworth, darling of London society, has her choice of eligible suitors, but since childhood, she has been expected to marry Jonathan Browning, a gentleman whose wealth and stability will someday secure the futures of Nora and her mother and sister. The family estate will pass to an odious male cousin upon the death of Nora’s father, and when he suddenly takes ill, her need to marry well becomes vitally important.
As Nora struggles with the idea of marrying without love, she finds herself increasingly drawn to Devlin Fausett, a man with dark eyes and intriguing conversation. But Devlin’s reputation as an indebted gambler is difficult to ignore. Despite the rumors from the ton and the marriage decision before her, Nora is determined to befriend the dashing Mr. Fausett, and his charms soon make it all but impossible to remember her duty. Until she learns the truth of her fortune. There is a way to keep her family’s estate, but the price is high: Nora must wed, as soon as possible. Torn between two very different men, she must make the ultimate decision. Will she be guided by her head or her heart?

My Review
A TANGLED INHERITANCE is a story about a lady who must find a husband to save her family and the man who must overcome his weaknesses to become the man who she deserves. It's full of twists and turns, a meddling family, and some dear friendships. A sweet historical romance for fans of the genre.
I have to say that my favorite character was Devlin. He seemed the most consistent and had the most depth to his character. I also liked that he knew his faults, gave in to them at points, but also strove to overcome them. I loved that the was most protective and aware of Nora and her and her family's needs. From the beginning I knew that he truly cared for her and I don't know how Nora couldn't see if in his consistent actions.
I also liked Nora. She was a great heroine who has much to muddle through in order to decide what her future will hold, and subsequently the future of her family. They made a great couple and I enjoyed how their friendship and romance blossomed.
I also liked that there was more than just romance at play in this story. There were machinations from parents, a sister, friends, and a villain. I wasn't always positive who could be trusted, which is also nice in a story with a little suspense. There also were a couple of side romances, so not all the focus was on the main couple the entire time.
I did want more development from these characters. That's probably my only complaint. I wanted them to be more consistent. I also wanted them to come more alive, particularly the side characters. The main characters were fairly well done.
In the end, was it what I wished for? I really enjoyed reading this story! It was sweet, with good main characters, some twists, and a lovely romance.

About the Author
Chalon Linton was first introduced to Jane Austen by a dear friend and now she can’t get enough of handsome men in tailcoats. Her intrigue in the genre stems from a nostalgic longing for manners, wit, and true love. Fortunately, Chalon found her dashing gentleman, married him, and now lives happily ever after in Southern California.
