Summary

Hope grows when seeds are planted—even in the muddy middle of life.

Josiah Chamberlain’s life’s work revolves around repairing other people’s marriages. When his own is threatened by his wife’s unexplained distance, and then threatened further when she’s unexpectedly plunged into an unending fog, Josiah finds his expertise, quick wit and clever quips are no match for a relationship that is clearly broken.

Feeling betrayed, confused, and ill-equipped for a crisis this crippling, he reexamines everything he knows about the fragility of hope and the strength of his faith and love. Love seems to have failed him. Will what’s left of his faith fail him, too? Or will it be the one thing that holds him together and sears through the impenetrable wall that separates them?

My Review

A FRAGILE HOPE is a heartrending story about tragedy, forgiveness, love, and hope. It's poignant and heartfelt from beginning to end, with plenty of nuggets of wisdom and life lessons for all readers. Highly recommended!

I don't know that I can put into words how deeply emotional and beautiful this book is. It's heartfelt on so many levels. I felt like crying almost the whole way through, but the story also consistently surprised me with these humorous, laugh-out-loud moments mixed with candid and sweet ones. From the beginning, my heart went out to both characters. I wanted so much for things to work out. So. Much. These characters, especially Josiah, are so easy to relate to and their situation is so raw. There was no way for my heart to not constantly be tugged on. My only complaint would be not getting to see more of the developments at the end. I felt like I journeyed for a long time in that stagnant phase and then got gypped a little in the end by not getting to experience more there.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This author never lets me down with her heartfelt stories. This included quite an emotional roller-coaster, but I enjoyed the ride immensely. A most inspiring read.
