Excerpt
Tara frowned at her reflection in the tri-fold mirror, then added a splash of color to her face. The image staring back proved less than pleasing.
Something else is needed. Got it!
Taking off her sweater, she tied it around her waist. Next, she sat on the tub’s edge, untied her sandal laces from around her ankles, then wrapped each one over her jeans just below the knees. Ruby earrings were swapped with dangling gold hoops she carried in her purse. Verdict?
That ought to do it. Who cares if it doesn’t?
When she opened the door, Luke almost toppled into the bathroom. He righted himself, pointing at the doorknob.
“There’s no peephole. I couldn’t peek if I wanted to.”
“Your sad eyes don’t sway me.” Her hip butted him out the way. “It’s too late to show remorse. You set me up.”
Luke raised three fingers. “Scout’s honor. I had no expectations either way. The choice was always yours.” His voice softened as his gaze caressed her face. “Beautiful as always.”
Tara steeled herself against the compliment. Real facts deserved more than a passing remark that missed the point.

E. C. Jackson began her writing career with the full-length play Pajama Party. For three and a half years she published the Confidence in Life newsletter for Alpha Production Ministries, in addition to writing tracts and devotionals. Teaching a women’s Bible study at her church for eleven years naturally led to her current endeavor of writing inspirational romance novels and teen and young adult fiction.
