Summary

Raised by a cold and distant mother, photographer Paisley Clark has spent her life daydreaming about the father she doesn’t remember. Paisley’s dream turns to reality when a DNA test brings her in contact with the mysterious man. With her financial situation a disaster and her childhood friend James Pressley-Coombes working across the pond in Scotland, Paisley is emboldened to accept her father’s invitation to visit him.

She arrives in the Highlands only to discover that she isn’t Paisley Clark at all but a titled lady, the daughter of a Scottish duke. Despite the warm welcome and the comfort of James’s presence, dangerous undercurrents surround Castle Rannoch, her father’s estate. Overwhelmed, Paisley takes refuge in her camera and James’s steady presence to provide a sense of normalcy in her rags-to-riches transformation. But her once-easy relationship with James is changing, deepening beyond friendship in a surprising twist of events. Before they have time to examine their feelings, Paisley inadvertently captures a shocking image in one of her photographs—a picture worth killing for.

My Review

DANGER ON THE LOCH is a story about a woman who meets her estranged father for the first time in Scotland and gets enveloped in a life completely different from what she's used to. It's about her best friend who find he has feelings for her, and a dangerous plot that is woven throughout. Recommended to fans of the series and light romantic suspense.

I really liked these characters as well as seeing cameos from characters from prior books. I liked Paisley from the start. She seemed level-headed and fairly easy going. I also liked James and Ben and their camaraderie. Both James and Paisley grow in depth as the story goes and as I got to know them better. It was easy to see the bond between them and how they become more aware o each other with a palpable chemistry. I also though the suspense element was interesting but would have like more development and reasoning behind it all. I really loved Paisley's grandmother and her half brother. The ending was especially sweet. I also have to note that I loved this cover and how it connects to the misty moors and a red dress Paisley wears at one point in the story.

I had a few complaints. Paisley gets really dramatic in places which seemed a bit inconsistent to her character from the start of the book. Then there were other instances of drama that were a bit too much for me. I also didn't understand an act of vengeance later on in the book because I didn't see a reason for it.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This is an enjoyable read. It's heavier on the romance and lighter on the suspense with a slight element of faith. There is a climax towards the end that was plenty intense and I really liked. Definitely worth the read as a continuation of this series, although reading the first two books is not necessary to read this one.
