My Review
T. REXES CAN'T TIE THEIR SHOES is a smartly written and fantastically illustrated picture book for children that takes readers through the alphabet while different animals try to do impossible things. The result is a story that will bring smiles and laughter to children's faces, as well as their parents, as they journey through this book. Highly recommended!
This book starts off with: "If you're still a bit small, it is no fun at all when you can't reach a shelf or get dressed by yourself... Some things are hard—for animals too!" What proceeds is an alphabet of animals all trying to do hard or impossible things, colorfully illustrated with simple one-sentence descriptions. It is such a witty and adorable book perfect for young children, but a book that any age can enjoy. Picking the t-rex to be on the cover was perfect as I know with my kids they were always drawn to anything with dinosaurs. The author did a great job with the wording and the illustrator easily grabs readers and holds their interest with the illustrations. I also loved the list at the end of things animals can do. Just a bit of inspiration and encouragement for little ones.
In the end, was it what I wished for? A truly delightful picture book perfect for children and all ages. This is one book that will not be leaving our shelves with years of enjoyment to come.
