My Review

SET IN STONE continues this thrilling sci-fi detective series where one man's choices in the past affect his future as well as victims of the crimes he's trying to solve. More is unveiled in this next installment and the stakes are even higher. Highly recommended to fans of the series and the series as a whole to those who enjoy cold-case detective series with a sci-fi twist!

I basically devoured this book. Like all the other books in the series, once you start it's hard to stop, and then at the end you're dying to read the next book. I think I'm even more impatient to read the next two books with how this one ends. If they were released now, I wouldn't wait at all to read them.

Rembrandt matures a bit in this book. He's more aware of his choices and what he has, but he's also still his brash self and continues to make a couple of mistakes while he tries to fit all the pieces together. The emotion is really raw in this book, so there is a bit of a roller-coaster feel until the intensity ramps up towards the end. I really love both Rem and Eve as well as some of the other characters. They continue to grow on me as I've read each of these books. I finally figured things out, although Rem has not (my one issue with this book as I really wanted him to pay attention instead of rushing things or relaxing his guard). I'm hoping it doesn't take him too long to get there in the next book because otherwise I can see things going terribly wrong... much more so than they have previously.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was another thrilling ride with Rembrandt Stone. I definitely recommend this series to those who enjoy the genre with a time-travel twist. I seriously can't wait for the next book and am dying having to wait between each installment.

Content: Some innuendo and closed-door scenes between a married couple, references to a miscarriage, an ongoing serial murderer and other violence (not excessively detailed) applicable to the story.
Source: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through JustRead Tours, which did not require a positive review. All opinions are my own.
