Summary

The help only he can offer…

Cypress Pointe, Florida, is a long way from LA, where pop singer Cassie Branford needs a hit to prove she's not a two album wonder. But her case of writer's block could be over when the struggling songwriter meets Luke Hastings at a family wedding.

The legendary musician walked away from success at the height of his career. Yet Luke is already inspiring Cassie with his dedication to building a permanent community outreach center for troubled teens. Volunteering to help bring music into these kids' lives is also bringing her and Luke closer. Maybe they're not as different as he thinks…

My Review

THE WEDDING MARCH is steady-paced story that involves family drama, a teen outreach program, musical fame, and sweet romance. It embodied this Harlequin line of books with a story that is sure to touch readers' hearts. If you enjoy sweet romance with plenty of depth from complex relationships and situations, then definitely give this one a try!

Right off I have to say how much I loved the musical aspects of the story! When I was younger I wrote lyrics and songs were always rolling around in my head so I could relate in so many ways to the main characters in this story and to some of the teens who aren't quite brave enough to show their words to the world. Even though I love this aspect of the story, I appreciated how well the author balanced everything. Music didn't overshadow the romance and the romance didn't overshadow these characters' individual struggles. Everything was weaved together to tell a story that feels authentic and easy to relate to in one way or another. It also was easy to build an emotional connection to the characters, becoming invested in the outcome and hoping that things would work out.

I also really like these characters. Cassie is such a sweetheart and even though she's been in the spotlight, it hasn't ruined her. She has her own troubles, but there is a humility and honesty that comes across from her. She has such a caring heart (except maybe towards her dad). She's definitely someone I'd love to be friends with. Then there's Luke who has been ruined by the spotlight and a messy divorce and is pretty bitter and standoffish about some things. I love how hard working he is and the time and effort he puts in with teens for his outreach program. He's also charming and quite talented. I love the way Cassie brings Luke back to life or at least challenges his self-imposed prison from living. They were a good match.

In the end, was it what I wished for? I really enjoyed this story! It was sweet and left my heart light.
