Launch Party for Friends and Traitors

Tuesday night I got to go to the launch party of Friends and Traitors (Slayers #2) by C.J. Hill AKA Janette Rallison. It was so much fun! Janette has a great sense of humor and that definitely came across when she was speaking. I especially enjoyed hearing about her research for this book. She found out one of her sons knows much more than he should about guns and weapons in general. Her characters get shot at in this book and they also wear armor, so she had to find out certain things for her scenes. She also got a little worried when she went sky diving and had to sign a 12-page release form for things she wouldn't sue for, such as if she hit a dirt clod or a taxiing plane ran her over and such. Her characters jump out of a plane at one point, so she needed to know what it was like. She had lots of other fun stories and experiences she shared in publishing Friends and Traitors and a few from Slayers as well.

It was also really fun because this is the second time I've seen her and between that and my interviewing her for a post earlier this week (you can see it here) she actually recognized me and came and chatted with my family and I just a little bit before it started. I had my mom, sister, and niece with me. We are all huge fans!

So, I was hoping that my second copy of Friends and Traitors would have come in the mail before the event, but it didn't. I'll get it signed another time for a giveaway. However, I did get a few swag items that I'd like to give away. I don't know where my camera disappeared to, so I had to take the picture with my phone, which has such a low resolution, but at least you can see the bookmark, bumper sticker, and signed poster. :) You just need to leave your name and mailing address to enter (in the rafflecopter form, please) and you must be in the continental US because I can't afford mailing this elsewhere. I am giving away either book in my feature for Something Wicked Returns here.

Good luck!
