My Review

FRESH STARTS was a perfect title for this story where the heroine leaves for the sanctuary of an apple orchard while her former stalker is released from prison. The story was sweet with romantic moments, and some suspense. It also included cameos from characters of the prior books in the series. Romance readers might enjoy this one.

For some reason, I didn't really connect with the characters and story. I don't know that I can even completely pinpoint why. It just read like a steady, slow story and I didn't really feel the chemistry or tension that is normally present in Krey's stories. I also had a few issues, like with the villain somehow getting somewhere towards the end when there were like two guys and a policeman around, and that the mom was over-the-top panicky at times. I got it, but it just didn't quite work for me. I liked getting to see some of the prior characters from the other books in this series and some of the Emerson's from the other series. I did like the characters well enough and the story was sweet. I just wanted more.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This one fell a little flat for me. It wasn't great and it wasn't terrible, it was just meh.

Content: Some mild swearing, heated kisses and a fade-to-black scene between a married couple, considered clean for the genre.

Other Books in the Series

Rough Edges, Allie's Story, A Companion to the Sweet Montana Bride Series (Second Chances #1) Mending Hearts (Second Chances, #2)

I've read her other series too, Cassie's Cowboy Crave being my favorite. Have you read any of Kimberly's other books?
