Short and sweet... The Proposal by Becky Wade (Review Brief)

Review briefs are just like they sound, a briefer review (and usually for more than
one book) than my norm for books that I want or need to share about.
It's also a play off of legal briefs, which include just what you need to know...

Summary

A cold night in Texas, a dream of marriage, a happily ever after....

Single mom Amber Richardson spends every holiday season working to give her young son the best Christmas possible and striving to ignore the empty chairs around her table, chairs she wishes her mother and father and extended family occupied.

She'd hoped that this holiday would be fuller and happier than the rest. Her handsome firefighter boyfriend, Will McGrath, has brought immeasurable joy and love into her life. Up until recently, they'd even been talking about a future that included wedding bells. Lately, though, the wedding talk has been nonexistent and Amber can’t help but worry that Will's starting to have second thoughts....

Until a fire station surprise brings very good tidings.

My Review

THE PROPOSAL was short and sweet. It told the happily-ever-after of a character readers are introduced to in the first Porter Family series book, UNDENIABLY YOURS, when Meg (the heroine from that book) meets the heroine from this book, Amber, and helps her out. I liked that the story completely focuses on Amber and then Will, but more so Amber and her struggles as a single mom who made some mistakes in her past, but has a bright future. I also loved how well the author conveyed the heroine's emotions into so few pages. If you need a quick read that will leave you feeling content and get you a taste of romance, then give this one a try!
