1. It’s set in Highland Park, CA.2. Neruda is named after the Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda.
3. Neruda is an artist: romantic, sensitive and a character I wanted to see more of in YA lit.
4. The murals listed in the book all existed at the time the book was written, but some have been removed since.
5. Greyson is Neruda’s second best friend. His first is Ezra.
6. I wrote the first draft in 2014.
7. It was originally called Neruda in Love.
8. I went to all the places that Neruda goes.
9. Neruda is based on a former high school student of mine.
10. I wrote more drafts of this book than any other I’ve written.
