Summary

It's the exciting start of a brand-new series by a contemporary romance fan favorite!

After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.

Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.

The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

My Review

TRUE TO YOU is a heartfelt, emotional, and sweet romance. Full of difficult struggles, friendship, family, and love as these characters figure out that they are perfect for each other even if they are opposites in so many ways. A story that touches the heart. Highly recommended!

Real men were dangerous. They could shred your heart and decimate your trust. But real men, with their weaknesses and their strengths, were . . . the ones who could smile with you and listen to you and hold you. Real men were the ones brave women entered into relationships with—even if relationships were sometimes messy and without guarantees.

I loved these characters! I loved that they were unique and had their own flaws and talents. I loved how friendship and then the romance develops. I loved the sisters and the family and friends who surround them. I loved the way Nora and John first meet to subsequent meetings and their heart-wrenching and completely beautiful end. There were so many ways that I connected with these characters and couldn't help but love them.

Yes, she patiently responded. And John's imperfect. But, you see, it was his admission of his imperfection that won me so completely. I'm imperfect, too.

If that all wasn't enough, the plot starts off fun and sweet and steady... But, don't let that fool you. I knew at about three-fourths through when there were still so many pages left that something was going to happen to really mess things up... There were difficult things these characters faced, but so much heart and prayer added in these beautiful moments that touched me deeply. This one really pulled out all my emotions, yes, even tears. Through all the heartbreak, I was just pulling so hard for these characters. I loved the bad for the joy that was brought in the end and how much more meaningful the joy was because of it.

And I don't want either of us to worry about that at this point. What I've learned," she thought back to the loss of her mother and her broken engagement, "is that the past might be challenging and the future might be unsure. And that's okay. The present is all we're given, anyway. When we get to the future, God will be there. He'll supply whatever we need for each day.

In the end, was it what I wished for? I loved it! This is a story that will definitely touch your heart and a read not to miss. I can't wait for the next book!

Summary

A leather-bound journal. A single father. A woman in pursuit of freedom.

Garner Bradford, heir to the troubled Bradford Shipping empire, doesn't know much about babies. But he's going to have to learn fast because he's just become a single father to his newborn daughter. As he confesses through his journal entries, he's not entirely sure how to keep a newborn alive, whether or not he'll ever patch together his shattered heart, or how to forgive himself for his mistakes.

Career girl Kathleen Burke is wholly uninterested in settling down. She has big dreams, and none of them include Garner and his small hometown in Washington State. Yet she can't seem to get her handsome boss out of her head or her heart. There's something extraordinarily tempting about his beautifully sad green eyes. . . .

Told through journal entries, phone conversations, and letters, Then Came You is a unique, heart-stirring romance novella by acclaimed author Becky Wade.

My Review

THEN CAME YOU was a roller-coaster ride of heartbreak and joy with characters that the reader can't help but fall in love with and cheer on. Full of all the feels, this is quite an emotional ride that thankfully ends perfectly, or maybe begins perfectly is more applicable here. A prequel to the series that isn't necessary, but also gives some good background to the sisters' background who are the focus in future books.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This wasn't as smooth as a full-length novel would be and felt like it jumped around a little, but still a very good read that pulled all my emotions and left me excited to learn more about these sisters with such a beginning.
