And Adam has only until Christmas to convince Joy that she belongs in Indian Lake—with him.
Guest Post: Tree Farm Day
I know what you’re thinking, “Doesn’t every Christmas story have a requisite tree farm or tree choosing scene?” The answer is, “WHY NOT?”
For me, this was one of the most magical days of my Christmas last year. For years, I have succumbed to the artificial tree substitute and was quite happy, thank you. Set up took minutes. Even when the trees were very, very old and the lights hadn’t worked, I bought new lights and strung them.
Last year was different. For one, my dear friend and the talented author, Kate James, came to visit. I also had visits from my agent and longtime friend, Lissy, as well as her lovely daughter, Sami. If that wasn’t enough reason to celebrate, my friend, Sally, had recently undergone a life-threatening surgery and after thirty days in the hospital in Indianapolis, she not only survived and had gone through another month in a re-hab facility, she was home for Christmas.
It was a year to pull out all the stops. And I did.
The tree farm was the first stop. I hadn’t been to our “Pine Country Tree Farm” in decades. What an eye-opener. Trust me, the scenes in any movie you’ve seen don’t compare to the real thing. What an operation. There was a gift store. A Santa all suited up sitting in his own cabin! Florals, garlands, wreaths were being shipped out by truckload. A horse-drawn wagon took folks up to the rolling hills to chop down their own tree. Hot apple cider and cocoa awaited them upon their return.
Merry Christmas to all!
