Falling for You
(A Bradford Sisters Romance #2)
By Becky Wade
Inspirational Contemporary Romance
Paperback & ebook, 368 pages
May 1st 2018 by Bethany House Publishers

Summary

Famously beautiful model Willow Bradford is taking a temporary break from her hectic schedule to work as the innkeeper at her family's small-town bed-and-breakfast. She was enjoying the peace of her hometown, Merryweather, Washington, right up until she came face-to-face with Corbin Stewart, the man she loves to hate. A thoughtful rule-follower by nature, Willow threw caution to the wind four years ago when she entrusted her heart to Corbin--and suffered the consequences when it all fell apart.

Former NFL quarterback Corbin is forceful, charming, and accustomed to getting what he wants . . . except where Willow Bradford is concerned. Unable to forget her, he's never stopped regretting what happened between them. When their paths unexpectedly cross again, he's determined to make her give him a second chance.

When a decades-old missing persons case finds Corbin and Willow working together, they're forced to confront their past and who they've become--and whether they can risk falling for one another all over again.

My Review

FALLING FOR YOU is a heartwarming story that shows the complexities of life in the imperfections that are healed in the perfectness of God's plans. The story is full of the warmness of family, the heartbreaks of life, the beauty of love, and the faithfulness of God. Inspirational romance readers will fall in love with these characters and a story weaved with humor, heartbreak, friendship, a mystery, a little danger, and a whole lot of chemistry. Highly recommended!

I liked these characters from the start. Not that I thought it would be any different because this is a Becky Wade book. I've come to accept that I will never be able to resist falling in love with her characters and with each new story. When Willow and Corbin have a "talk" about her ground rules, I knew these characters were going to be a joy.

This is part of that scene where Willow tries to set her rules:

"If we do run into each other in the future because of John and Nora," she continued, "don't seek me out."
"Can I communicate with you from across the room using sign language?"
You may not. And last but not least, do not flirt with me."

Then when Corbin starts breaking every single one of her rules, particularly using sign language to communicate across the table from Willow with a phrase he learned that morning specifically to break that rule, I about died with laughter and fell even more in love with him.

Corbin is the perfect mix of a good sense of humor, rugged handsomeness, confidence, intelligence, vulnerability, heart, and charm. He may very well be my favorite leading man. Ever. Usually I love the leading lady the most in stories, but Corbin might just have beat Willow out. Of course I also loved Willow. She puts up a good front, but she has her own issues and a whole lot of heart. I loved her relationship with her sisters, her shopping addiction, her faith, and her love for Corbin. She just can't resist him and I don't blame her. The chemistry is palpable and the banter between them was fantastic!

There is quite a lot going on in this story. There are all the different relationships with some notable side characters. There's the set up for Britt's story (Willow's sister) for the next book, which I can't wait for. There's a mystery that Corbin and Willow get roped into investigating for Corbin's cousin (who he refers to and treats as his niece) about her missing great aunt. There's some danger towards Willow. There's the obvious romance between Willow and Corbin. And then there is the inspirational element that was weaved in subtly here and there and then takes forefront towards the end of the story. The story touches on forgiveness, especially towards self, and what it means to believe, even if non-traditionally. I appreciated how the author doesn't shy away from difficult topics, nor does anything feel forced or too peachy or light. It felt real. Like real life, with real people, who have real desires, weaknesses, strengths, and dreams. I loved each part, but I especially loved the romance and the inspirational moments were quite touching.

Here are some favorite lines that touched my heart:

Perhaps she'd been so bent on protecting herself from the improbably that, somewhere along the line, she'd stopped believing in the miraculous.

Jesus was the antidote to broken rules.

For long minutes she simply stood, unmoving and praying, letting herself feel God's love. His love wasn't narrow, the way she'd tried to make it. It was the widest and deepest love there was.

"...God has been giving you enough strength to get through each day. He's steadying you, Corbin."

This God of his was a God who was determined to set broken things right.
Corbin was a broken thing.
From now on, he'd let God set him right.

In the end, was it what I wished for? Becky Wade has written another story with lovable characters and a message that will touch readers' hearts. She delves into some difficult topics with humor, love, and grace. Add to that a sizzling romance and you have a story that is sure to be a favorite.

Content: Some references to affairs and violence, some innuendo, all relative to the story and clean.
