On Tour with Prism Book Tours

I've worked with Tara Taylor Quinn, or TTQ, for a couple of years, but this is the
first book I've been able to dive into one of her books, and dive into it I did. It was
really good and I know this won't be the last book I pick up of hers. Read my full

A second chance for Joy

While recovering at a remote cabin, Dr. Simon Walsh stumbles across Cara Amos. Injured and left for dead, Cara is harboring dark secrets. Yet Simon can't help falling for his mysterious patient. As her memory returns and her injuries fade under his gentle care, he vows to help her find her missing daughter.

At The Lemonade Stand shelter, managing director Lila McDaniels is helping Cara's estranged father, Edward Mantle, bond with his traumatized granddaughter, Joy. And his feelings extend well beyond gratitude.

Bringing this family together seems impossible… Luckily, Christmas is the season of miracles.

My Review

A FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS is a moving story about characters who are trying to rise above their fears and abuse to find love and fulfillment in their lives. Heartbreaking and raw in places, sweet and intimate in others, it is a story that will draw on the reader's heart and drive them to hope for a happily-ever-after ending. Highly recommended to those who like their characters to rise victorious over their struggles—to find that happiness can be for everyone, even those with deep scars.

From the first few pages, I knew this story was going to be good. Heartfelt. Tough. Sweet. These characters will pull on your heart. They will break it. But you'll be pulling for them to see what is right in front of them: happiness and love. I loved the rawness, but that the abuse aspects were somewhat hazy and vague so that I could deal with it in pieces as the characters unveil them. I think all at once, or if it would have been sexual abuse, would have been too much for me. The way this was presented worked for me while not being belittled or undermined in any way.

I loved the characters! From Edward's and Lila's unique relationship, to Simon's and Cara's. I especially loved how much they each depended on and helped each other. I loved Simon's dedication and bravery and persistence. His hope in restoring his vision and in helping Cara heal. I loved that Cara slowly regained her self and who she is, slowly emerging from years of abuse. It was really very sweet. Then ending was so precious. Loved it!

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was an excellent story! The characters were complex, there was a level of depth to the story, and it had so many elements I love when I read. If you're looking for a book to pull you in, tug on your heart, and leave you with sweet contentment, then grab this one!

Content: Some mild swearing (except for one s-word), some brief innuendo, and two non-descriptive, closed-door scenes.
