I still need to read the first book in this series, Isle of Blood and Stone, but I have heard fabulous things about both. I love that this is a standalone as they're so rare, especially in fantasy (sometimes it's just too much pressure to commit to an five plus book series). I also love the cover (do you see the octopus?), and most importantly, the description totally sounds like my kind of thing. It's my pick this week...
