My Review
LAST THINGS is a dark and twisted tale with a constant undertone of danger. It's like a mix of contemporary YA and fae, but where the fae hide in the shadows. But they're not fae and either is the girl who watches and protects. An overall riveting story.
This story had a very small-town secrets kind of feel to it except that most in the town are completely oblivious to the darkness that hides in the shadows. I found the characters easy to relate to. They have their strengths, weaknesses, struggles... things that we all deal with. I liked that romance wasn't the main or even a major part of the story. There's just a vagueness to some romance. I also liked the overall tone of the story and the voices of Thea and Anders. They're very different and it was interesting to see how they interacted and what connected them. There was a constant pull in this story - a constant feeling of something being out there, of these characters being in danger. It's not quite you're usual suspense as there is a paranormal/fantasy aspect. It's a dark and creepy danger that slowly unveils more and more as the story goes. It definitely made me flip pages to find out what would happen.
In the end, was it what I wished for? I enjoyed this creepy, paranormal contemporary. The characters were interesting as was the story.
Content: Fade-to-black/closed-door love scenes, some swearing (including an f-word or two), drinking, violence.
