Review: Undeniably Yours (A Porter Family #1) by Becky Wade

Goodreads summary:
When Meg Cole’s father dies unexpectedly, she becomes the majority shareholder of his oil company and the single inheritor of his fortune. Though Meg is soft-spoken and tenderhearted–more interested in art than in oil–she’s forced to return home to Texas and to Whispering Creek Ranch to take up the reins of her father’s empire.

The last thing she has the patience or the sanity to deal with? Her father’s thoroughbred racehorse farm. She gives its manager, Bo Porter, six months to close the place down.

Bo’s determined to resent the woman who’s decided to rob him of his dream. But instead of anger, Meg evokes within him a profound desire to protect. The more time he spends with her, the more he longs to overcome every obstacle that separates them–her wealth, his unworthiness, her family’s outrage–and earn the right to love her.

But just when Meg begins to realize that Bo might be the one thing on the ranch worth keeping, their fragile bond is viciously broken by a force from Meg’s past. Can their love–and their belief that God can work through every circumstance–survive?

What I thought:
I loved Becky Wade's first book, My Stubborn Heart, which came out in 2012. I loved the characters, plot, and that the religious aspect wasn't overbearing. So I had very high expectations as I read Undeniably Yours. Plus it has that super cute cover! :)

The first time Meg meets Bo (when she's trying to tell him she's going to be closing down the horse farm and he will need to find a new job) I knew he was going to be the love interest and a great one! I just have this thing for cowboys. Probably all the rough and rugged looks, strong muscles, and good old-fashioned charm. ;) Bo definitely fits the description. He is also the oldest in his family, making him responsible and protective.

Meg has some major issues with anxiety that she is struggling through, especially since her father's death. I thought Wade did a good job describing her attacks, although I felt like she probably should have let Meg experience a full-blown one at least once. I have some family that have had issues with anxiety and once you're to a certain point, there's no going back without some extra help or time. Meg has some other baggage that she carries as well from an ex-husband, and the distanced father she grew up with. She is tenderhearted, humble, but also strong (even though she doesn't see herself this way).

The story progresses really well. I liked how Meg and Bo's relationship begins with instantaneous attraction, but after lots of conversations and time spent together it blossoms into love. There are a lot of things in their way, so even though they have feelings for each other, they don't act on them. The religious content was borderline too much for me. Regardless, I do like how Wade develops her characters so that they interact with God in such a personal way. It doesn't feel forced or preachy. The suspense was a different touch in this one and something I wasn't expecting. It took me a little while to accustom myself to it, but once I did, it played out really well. It was a little tense - just wasn't quite sure what was going to happen. Overall it was an enjoyable read! Definitely an author I will continue to follow.
