New "Read Now" Titles at NetGalley!

Are you a member of NetGalley? NetGalley is one site that publishers use to give out Advanced Reader Copies (ARC's) and other ebooks that they want to be reviewed. You don't have to be a blogger to become a member. I used my Goodreads profile for a while before I started this blog. You could also use your Amazon (or another retailer) profile that you use to post reviews. You probably won't get that many approvals that way, but you will be able to get all their "Read Now" titles. For those of you who don't know what those are, they are titles that you don't have to request or get approval to read, you can download them immediately.

NetGalley just posted two new "Read Now" titles and I wanted to share those with you. They both sound fabulous! One of them is by an author, Mette Ivie Harrison, whose books I have read before and really enjoyed. Here are the titles:

Goodreads summary:
Richly-imagined fantasy romance from the author of Princess and the Hound, a tale of two princesses--one with magic, one with none--who dare seek love in a world where real choice can never be theirs. For fans of Megan Whalen Turner, Catherine Fisher, and Cassandra Clare.

Ailsbet loves nothing more than music; tall and red-haired, she's impatient with the artifice and ceremony of her father's court. Marissa adores the world of her island home and feels she has much to offer when she finally inherits the throne from her wise, good-tempered father. The trouble is that neither princess has the power--or the magic--to rule alone, and if the kingdoms can be united, which princess will end up ruling the joint land? For both, the only goal would seem to be a strategic marriage to a man who can bring his own brand of power to the throne. But will either girl be able to marry for love? And can either of these two princesses, rivals though they have never met, afford to let the other live?

Goodreads summary:
Charlie’s the kind of boy that no one notices. Hell, even his own mother can’t remember his name. And girls? The invisible man gets more dates.

As if that weren’t enough, when a mysterious clockwork man tries to kill him in modern day Philadelphia, and they tumble through a hole into 1725 London, Charlie realizes even the laws of time don’t take him seriously.

Still, this isn’t all bad. In fact, there’s this girl, another time traveler, who not only remembers his name, but might even like him! Unfortunately, Yvaine carries more than her share of baggage: like a baby boy and at least two ex-boyfriends! One’s famous, the other’s murderous, and Charlie doesn’t know who is the bigger problem.

When one kills the other — and the other is nineteen year-old Ben Franklin — things get really crazy. Can their relationship survive? Can the future? Charlie and Yvaine are time travelers, they can fix this — theoretically — but the rules are complicated and the stakes are history as we know it.

And there's one more wrinkle: he can only travel into the past, and she can only travel into the future!

Since I sporlighted NetGalley, I feel I should also tell you that Edelweiss is a similar site. They don't have downoadable ebooks that you don't have to request as often, but I know you can still get The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa without requesting it. So register with them if you're interested.

  1. Yeah I don't have a blog (hopefully I will one day) but I am on Netgalley and I was surprised I actually got approved for about 10 different books so far. Not any super popular ones though. I am on Edelweiss as well and have only gotten one. Thanks for the post!

    1. I have one very popular publisher that I haven't even got approvals for yet, so sometimes it doesn't matter if you're a blogger or not. :)
