Feed My Reader Friday #6

I bought a few ebooks this week. I got quite a few approvals from NetGalley though and will list those I'm most excited about. I'm really excited about Deeanne Gist's short because it's a prequel to a book that I have been eagerly awaiting and will be featured in my WOW post next week. Replacing Gentry was part of a past WOW post and I was happy to get it for such a great price! Here's my stash from this week:

Goodreads summary:
When Marlie agrees to attend a cadaver ball at Vanderbilt Medical School, she did not expect to actually see any cadavers. Or, that a strange apparition would issue her a chilling message.

Despite the cadaver's warning, Marlie is married a year later to Tennessee State Senator, Daniel Cannon, and living in a plantation-style mansion with two step-sons. Add to the mix her growing suspicion that something is amiss with the death of Daniel’s first wife, Gentry, and newlywed Marlie is definitely in over her pretty Yankee head.

What begins as an innocent inquiry into her new husband’s clouded past ends with Marlie in the midst of a dangerous conspiracy.

A modern twist on the classic Gothic romance novels of Rebecca and Jane Eyre, Replacing Gentry follows Marlie’s precarious journey as she learns the truth about the man she married.

A Love by Any Measure by Killian McRae
Romance
Was Free, now $2.99
Purchase from Amazon

Goodreads summary:
An Irish lass. An English lord.
A love that overcomes all boundaries, but at what cost?

Lord August Grayson, English landlord, has secretly, and much to the dismay of his father, held in reverence the object of his first fancy: poor Irish tenant Maeve O'Connor. Returning to Ireland for the first time since his youth, August discovers that Maeve has grown into a woman of beauty and tenacity. He understands, however, that he could offer Maeve nothing but shame if her pursued her. But when circumstances allow him an opportunity to indulge his fancy, even if only in a limited scope, August finds himself unable to resist the temptation.

Maeve, for her part, knows the danger falling for August holds, but finds her heart and her good senses becoming confused the longer she spends in his company. As two hearts become hopelessly entangled, both Maeve and August are forced to question the costs of their love. As consequences of their romance manifest, both struggle with the pain and difficulties their love causes, both for themselves and those who care for them.

Killian McRae's delve into historical romance will challenge reader's presumptions of the genre. A title garnering controversy due to McRae's preference towards historical truth versus genre-standard "love despite the realities of the day" perspectives, it asks at what cost winning love is justified. "A Love by Any Measure" is an exploration of a romance that strives to overcome divisions of cultural, socio-economic, and religious differences in an era where options for lovers in such situations were limited.

    1. I've read quite a few of Tracie Peterson's books. I have loved some and just liked others. However, this new series looks really good and I'm excited to read it! One of my favorite Christian series is by her, called Brides of Gallatin County. I highly recommend it!

    1. Sorry! I know how that feels! It's not that it's hard once everything is up and running, but it is time consuming. Blogger doesn't always cooperate too. It has these weird formatting issues that pop up sometimes. I'm still having fun though! I'm also loving getting more ARC approvals and being a part of book tours and stuff! :)
