Monthly Giveaway for May & Author Meet and Greets

It's a new month, which means a new giveaway. :D I've got some fun stuff for you this time around too and TWO, yes two prizes for two lucky winners!!!

I got to meet three authors in April. It was so much fun! I've got several more coming up too that I'll be seeing.

First I went to see Rachel Hawkins. She was hilarious! She talked about her new book, Rebel Belle, whose main character is like the antithesis of her MC in Hex Hall. She's from the south, Alabama I believe, and doesn't have an accent, which she pointed out. Her humor and sarcasm definitely carries over into her books.

Then I got to meet Soman Chainani who wrote The School for Good and Evil. He was really great! In grade school he wrote a serial mystery series where the kids in his class took turns being murdered or doing the murdering, all in good fun, and was extremely popular. It spread through the school and he got requests from other kids in other classes asking it they could be in the story that week. Lol! He has a film background, so his series was written with a movie in mind and will be made into one. They'll be doing some casting for kids in the future. He read a little of his book and talked about the inspiration for it, specifically a Freshman college class about fairy tales. He was the only boy with fourteen girls in the class. :) He talked about our preconceived notions of good and evil and that you can be evil, but make a good choice and vice versa. Anyway, that was fun.

Finally, last night I got to meet Kevin Emerson who wrote The Atlanteans series and quite a few other books that I will be checking out, especially Oliver Nocturne for my son, and most recently Exile. He was great! He had a slideshow and at the end sang two songs from Exile with his acoustic guitar. If he is coming to a bookstore or school by you I would highly recommend going!!! Here's a poor resolution clip of him singing:
