Waiting on Wednesday #4

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Two of my favorite classics are Rebecca and Jane Eyre, so when I read the summary for Replacing Gentry, I added it to my tbr list right away. It sounds fabulous and I am looking forward to getting my hands on a copy! I read a book by Rachel Hauck and Sara Evans a while back and it was really good. Definitely had some grit to it. Once Upon a Prince sounds fabulous since I love fairy tales!

Replacing Gentry by Julie N. Ford
Publication: April 9, 2013 by WiDo Publishing

Goodreads summary:
When Marlie agrees to attend a cadaver ball at Vanderbilt Medical School, she did not expect to actually see any cadavers. Or, that a strange apparition would issue her a chilling message.

Despite the cadaver's warning, Marlie is married a year later to Tennessee State Senator, Daniel Cannon, and living in a plantation-style mansion with two step-sons. Add to the mix her growing suspicion that something is amiss with the death of Daniel’s first wife, Gentry, and newlywed Marlie is definitely in over her pretty Yankee head.

What begins as an innocent inquiry into her new husband’s clouded past ends with Marlie in the midst of a dangerous conspiracy.

A modern twist on the classic Gothic romance novels of Rebecca and Jane Eyre, Replacing Gentry follows Marlie’s precarious journey as she learns the truth about the man she married.

Once Upon a Prince (Royal Wedding Series #1) by
Publication: May 7, 2013 by Zondervan

Goodreads summary:
Once Upon a Prince, the first novel in the Royal Wedding series by bestselling author Rachel Hauck, treats you to a modern-day fairy tale.

Susanna Truitt never dreamed of a great romance or being treated like a princess---just to marry the man she has loved for twelve years. But life isn’t going according to plan. When her high-school-sweetheart-turned-Marine-officer breaks up instead of proposing, Susanna scrambles to rebuild her life.

The last thing Prince Nathaniel expects to find on his American holiday to St. Simon’s Island is the queen of his heart. A prince has duties, and his family’s tense political situation has chosen his bride for him. When Prince Nathaniel comes to Susanna’s aid under the fabled Lover’s Oak, he is blindsided by love.

Their lives are worlds apart. He’s a royal prince. She’s a ordinary girl. But everything changes when Susanna receives an invitation to Nathaniel’s coronation.

  1. The first book was definitely giving me a Rebecca vibe so I'm pleased to hear see that in the description. The second book looks exactly like the kind of book I love and I am off to add it to my to-read list.

    1. Doesn't Once Upon a Prince sound like a sweet and fun read? Sometimes I really need those in between all the death and destruction ones! Besides I can read those types over and over again. :)

    1. Yes, I do. :) This one definitely interests me because of the Jane Eyre aspect too. I think it should work, at least I have high hopes that it will.

I am the same way about the princess stuff too. There was this one point in my life when my husband was working full-time and going to school at night and I never saw him except on Sundays. I watched the Prince & Me movie to see if it was any good and then watched it like three more times. It is so cheesy, but I just needed some cheesy romance and there are books like that, that are just sweet and romantic, but well-written, that I can read several times over and make me sigh at the end.
