Summary
His team. His mission. A mission that comes at the highest cost!
Captain Dean Watters keeps his mission and his team in the forefront of his laser-like focus. So when Dean’s mission and team are threatened, his Special Forces training kicks into high gear. Failing to stop hackers from stealing national security secrets from the military’s secure computers and networks isn’t an option.
Zahrah Zarrick is a missionary teacher to Afghan children in Mazar-e Sharif. And a target. When Zahrah is captured because of her expertise in quantum cryptology, compromising the U.S. military, Dean is forced to crack the lockbox around his heart—a move that might come at the highest cost.
My Review
Raptor 6 was a suspenseful, on-the-edge-of-your-seat, realistic Christian suspense novel. The author didn't glaze over the details. It was brutal and horrifying in spots. There were also inspirational moments of faith and trust, and some sweet moments between Dean and Zahrah.
I really loved these characters! Captain Watters was a tortured soul, intriguing, disciplined, and a rough and rugged hero. Then you have beautiful Zahrah, who was intelligent, full of heart, sweet, and stubborn. I loved the Raptor team and their teasing, jostling, loyalty, and discipline. They worked as a unit, as they should. The villains were strong, creepy, and dangerous. One of them was a little manic and I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him as the series progresses.
I do wish the team would have caught on to the leak sooner - really at all. I'm curious to see how that whole situation plays out as the series continues. The violence was pretty chilling and intense in parts. There was a lot of action, with individuals (including women and children) being hurt and killed. There were also references to and an actual rape. So, this is definitely not a story for those who can't stomach those types of details. The author did a good job of not belittling anything: the seriousness of the missions or situations, the reality of the setting, the training of the soldiers, and the determination of those that would do harm and those that were fighting against them. At the same time she also gave enough details for everything to feel real, but not too many for the violence to become the focal point or be too descriptive. Some things occurred that we weren't given specific details to, but know happened.
If you enjoy action and suspense with inspirational and romantic elements than I would highly recommend grabbing a copy of Raptor 6.
Content: Clean, except I would rate the violence definitely on an adult level.

Cool cover. I like the hourglass. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about her books!
ReplyDeleteReading this one now, and it's quite good! Cannot wait to finish it - in fact, I sort of *have* to asap, otherwise that due review won't go up tomorrow. *bites nails* ;)
ReplyDeleteIt is really good and really well written. I did turn to my husband thought and tell him how happy I was that he is not in the military because it's so scary!
ReplyDeleteI have a pretty packed week with books that "have to" be read because I have tour stops that are scheduled. :) I'm reading the INSPY books too. I'm going to have to fit in some super happy books after I'm done with those.
It's the first one I've read of hers, but it was really good and I'll definitely be reading her books in the future.
ReplyDeleteI do too. I like how they changed the colors inside the hourglass too.
ReplyDeleteLove your graphic with all the books! It looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteNumber 4 and 9 are in my bag as well. Great books!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good group you've got, Tressa. Especially On the Fence. Eager to snag that once it releases later this summer. Happy reading! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I really want to read #1!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
Great list! I'm especially excited for On the Fence. I definitely have an author crush on Kasie West. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. The birds are a little big in proportion to the books, but that's okay. :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely good choices. I forgot to add Ruin and Rising!! Don't know how I missed that!
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things so far and I really love her, so I should love it. You too, Rissi!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty much planning on it being a favorite. :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! She's super nice too. I've loved all her books so far and I don't see that changing.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to read Gods and Monsters! It's killing me that I haven't had time. I LOVE LOVE LOVED COHF. I cannot wait to see what you think about it. Those are some awesome reads :)
