Friday Favorites: Favorite Book Covers from 2014 Q2

Friday Favorites is a weekly meme hosted here, that spotlights a favorite author, book, series, publisher, cover, blog, etc. Basically whatever bookish thing that you love, recommend, and want to tell others about. Just pick one and link up to my post each Friday to share. You can use the graphic I used above, the other one here, or your own.

This is the second installment of favorite book covers for the year. I featured books from the first quarter of here. It's now time for favorite covers from the second quarter. I'm sure I'm missing some, but these are the ones I have loved so far:

The One (The Selection, #3) The Chapel Wars The Falconer (The Falconer, #1)
The One: Just gorgeous. I just couldn't resist choosing this one.
The Chapel Wars: I just love how cute and creative this is. The hotel looking light that you would see by the side of the rode and the heart shape. Just cute.
The Falconer: I really like the colors, the hair, and the dagger that is in contrast to the femininity of the model.

Learning Not to Drown The Ring and The Crown Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3)
Learning Not to Drown: I like how the font looks like it's in water. It's a little scaring looking, but I just like it. :)
The Ring & the Crown: I love how artsy this one is, with the flower hat and way the title rests on the cover.
Dreams of Gods & Monsters: Doesn't this one kind of give you the chills? Major contrast here. She used to have thorns, so I like the symbolism of that.

Blonde Ops The Lonesome Young The Here and Now
Blonde Ops: I just love the vintage, European look and the way "OPS" is presented. It matches the cute story too.
The Lonesome Young: I don't know what it is about this one. It just looks epic and fierce and the title pops.
The Here and Now: I just love the artistry of this one with the different fragments and pictures within the picture.

Meridian (Arclight, #2) Open Road Summer Cinderella's Dress
Meridian: Another artsy cover. Can you see a little bit of a trend here? ;) I love the colors and how unique this looks. It just looks cool.
Open Road Summer: This is just a gorgeous picture with the sun coming through and how they're leaning on the bike. Love it!
Cinderella's Dress: I love the black and white background with the gorgeous dress front and center.

Dark Metropolis (Dark Metropolis, #1) Ruin and Rising (The Grisha, #3) A Woman of Fortune (Texas Gold, #1)
Dark Metropolis: Seriously awesome font for that title with that retro and kind of vintage look. Then do you see the shadow of someone just behind the title? Very interesting.
Ruin and Rising: This might be cheating. I just love this series and can't wait to get my hands on my copy!!! Besides that, I just like the way it looks with the red, black, white, and the yellow accent and how the whole cover is so representative of the the story.
A Woman of Fortune: I just love, love, love the red dress with the land spread out in front of her. I just got approved for this one on NetGalley and am stoked to read it!

Deep Blue (Waterfire Saga, #1) Shucked Caught in the Middle (Ladies of Caldwell County, #3)
Deep Blue: Another just beautiful cover. I love the sea colors and the way the dress and fin look with the palace in the background. Perfect for the synopsis.
Shucked: I don't know what it is about vintage looking covers, but this one resonated with me. I love how the author's name is on her luggage and just the colors and the way this cover was put together.
Caught in the Middle: I love the look on her face. Lol! Then I love the fancy dress with those broken in boots. Makes me think she's a tom boy and being forced to dress up. Just a fun cover!

Plots and Pans Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy, #1) City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)

Plots and Pans: This cover is super fun and cute! She looks like trouble, doesn't she?! Definitely a great cover for this story and catches my eye.
Stolen Songbird: I love how this just screams Fantasy, which is one of my favorite genres. I also love green! It's my favorite cover.
City of Heavenly Fire: This is just an awesome cover!! I especially like how he is all dark and she is all light, especially with that fiery hair.

How about you? What book covers have/do you love?

  2. I think, from what I've read of the book itself so far and my own expectations, that it might be that expectations are off. The cover invokes a feeling of romance and fairy tale, but it's really a young YA and the author said that the original story didn't really have any romance in it. So I think it is a very different story than most expect it to be.

  4. What great choices, Tressa. Of course, I adore 'The One,' and 'Open Road Summer' is also pretty. With you about 'Blonde Ops' (have that one waiting for me!!), 'Deep Blue' is really unique, and I thought 'Plots and Pans' was really cute. :)
