By Lori Foster
Adult Contemporary Romance
Paperback, Audiobook & ebook, 352 Pages

Summary

One summer, two sisters and a chance to start over…

Before the burglary that shattered her confidence, Phoenix Rose had a fiancé, a successful store and a busy, happy existence. After months spent adrift, she takes a job at the lakeside resort of Cooper’s Charm. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, friendly colleagues and a charismatic, widowed boss, Phoenix is slowly inching her way back into the world.

Visiting Cooper’s Charm to check up on her little sister, Ridley Rose impulsively agrees to fill in as housekeeper. Still reeling from an ego-bruising divorce, she finds satisfaction in a job well done—and in the attention of the resort’s handsome scuba instructor.

For Phoenix and Ridley, Cooper’s Charm is supposed to be merely temporary. But this detour may lead to the place they most need to be, where the future is as satisfying as it is surprising…

My Review

COOPER'S CHARM is a charming story with plenty of sizzle, sass, and a little suspense. With the small-town, or actually small-vacation-spot, setting, the dynamic characters (including one very cute pup), and the constant chemistry, banter, and friendships, this is a great summer read to relax with if you're a contemporary romance fan.

This cover looked adorable. I'm a sucker for dogs and I loved the summer look. Then from the first page I connected with Phoenix, then Cooper, and then the rest of the characters as they appeared. There was no going back. I loved the dialogue and the chemistry that literally jumps off the page. I loved the way the romance was slow at first and the tension that created between the characters. Then there were the friendships from those who work at Cooper's Charm, with all the camaraderie and joking around. Phoenix also has a fun relationship with her sister, which added another aspect to the story. This was such a fun read, with plenty of sweet moments as well as some suspenseful ones weaved throughout. There's even some intense moments of danger. The ending was sweet, with a few twists.

Now for a disclaimer... this is general romance. The love scenes were much more detailed than I usually read, so if you prefer your books clean, this one definitely isn't. There was also some swearing and some vulgar comments and innuendo.

In the end, was it what I wished for? I really enjoyed this one! The characters were so well done and the plot had plenty to drive it. I would have liked it cleaner, but that's my only complaint.

Content: Detailed love scenes, swearing, innuendo, some vulgarity, some references to violence.
Source: I received a complimentary copy through NetGalley, which did not require a positive review nor affect it in any way.
