Cassie's Cowboy Crave
(Sweet Montana Bride #1)
by Kimberly Krey
Adult Romance
July 12, 2013

Twenty-four-year-old Cassie Lovell has a great job, good friends, and an apartment with a killer view. That is, until life is turned upside down. Without the chance to say goodbye, Cassie is forced into a witness protection program on Emerson Ranch. Just when she fears life is doomed, Cassie meets Shane Emerson, the stunningly handsome cowboy who’ll be posing as her newlywed groom.

Shane Emerson is determined not to fall for the woman he’s agreed to harbor. Especially since the whole thing was his family’s way of trying to get him hitched. So why is it when he takes Cassie into his home, Shane wants nothing more than to turn their make-believe marriage into more than just a sham?

In a moment of weakness, Shane steals a kiss.
In return, Cassie steals his heart.
Yet before they confess their undying love,
a hidden danger threatens to tear them apart.

*Although this novel is considered clean romance, it does contain passionate kissing and a few mild curse words.

Top Ten Things That Make a
Great Romance Novel

In My Humble, Romance-Loving Opinion
Author Kimberly Krey

Number One: Swoon-worthy Guy
Without him – we got nothin’. I prefer books that give a description. Doesn’t have to go into great detail (though I never mind when they do), but a basic idea is nice.  Beyond that, personality is key, mystery adds a lot, and humor is always a plus. I like knowing why the main character is drawn to him.

Number Two: Romantic Tension
A must! These two need to have sparks. I want to get a good grip on the attraction right away. Even if there’s a bit of a love-hate thing going on, I like knowing there’s something brewing, an undeniable attraction no matter how maddening the opposite is.

Number Three: Likable Characters
The more I like them, the more I want them to end up together, and the happier I am once they do! We might not always relate to every character we read about, but I want to at least appreciate where they are coming from and who they are.

Number Four: A Happy Ending
During one of the first writer’s meetings I attended, someone stated that a novel cannot be considered a romance unless it has a happy ending. I don’t know who made that rule or if it’s even a rule at all, but I, for one, agree. I read romance because I want that happy ending!

Number Five: Friendship
We definitely don’t want our love interests to stop there, but I really enjoy ‘watching’ them develop a genuine friendship. It helps me to believe they are falling in love.

Number Six: Love, of course.
What’s romance without love? There is something fascinating about two people falling in love! What makes it happen? How long does it take? And does the other love them in return? So much fun.

Number Seven: Conflict
It can’t happen too easily. But even if it’s nearly love at first sight, we have to know it’s worth fighting for. It can be complicated, like: the one you love thirsts for your blood (yes –I’m still a die-hard TwiFan), or something a little more simple, like: the guy you have a crush on has set you in that ever-dreaded ‘friends’ department. There are family feuds that date clear back to Romeo and Juliet, or characters who are simply their own worst enemy, like in Pride and Prejudice.

Number Eight: Believable Female Lead
When I’m reading, I want to relate with my character on some level. Sure they’re going to have different personalities and unique traits, but there are a few things we, as women, have in common: The desire to be loved. Fear we may never achieve it. Passions. Insecurities. I want to feel her and route for her and cheer when she gets her happy ending!

Number Nine: Laughter
Every good romance needs a touch of light-hearted humor. What woman doesn’t love a guy who can make her laugh? Doesn’t have to be a comedian, but a splash of laughter here and there does a romance good.

Number Ten: Kissing
Yes. I saved the best for last. I love it when a clean romance novel can make my stomach warm with anticipation over a good old fashioned lip-lock! Kissing is where the passion is; remember the song, It’s In His Kiss? I second that! I love reading (and writing) a good kissing scene!
