Summary

In a secluded corner of Hope Beach, one woman must decipher a stranger’s memories . . . before they cost her everything.

Elin Summerall was one of the lucky ones. Not only did she get a heart transplant, but the donor was a perfect fit. A miraculously perfect fit.

But when Elin begins having violent flashbacks—and vivid dreams of being strangled—she realizes that she has been the recipient of more than just a new heart . . . Elin is remembering her donor’s murder.

Her strange affliction has attracted some unwanted attention: from the press, from the authorities . . . and from the killer himself. Now, living alone with her young daughter and aging mother, Elin is being stalked—by a man she’s only met in her nightmares.

The police are dubious of her story, but one off-duty FBI agent is eager to help her: Agent Marc Everton, the father of Elin’s daughter.

Of course, he doesn’t know about that. Yet.

Now, in a remote cottage on Hope Island, Elin and Marc must probe the secrets buried in her borrowed heart. And there’s no time to waste. One man is desperate to silence her—before she remembers too much.

My Review

I love reading romantic suspense, so I was looking forward to reading Seagrass Pier. This is the third book in the series and I hadn't read the first two, but I didn't feel lost or like I needed more information. The romance was sweet and there was a constant feeling of suspense. The author kept me confused as to who the villain might be almost to the very end. There were also some pretty intense moments where I wasn't sure who was going to make it to the end of the story.

There was a lot going on and several points of view. I did feel it was a little too much. There were stories within stories between journal entries, then Elin's story, Sara's story, and the guys' perspectives. There were plots involving Elin's daughter, a treasure, a drug smuggler, and then Laura's murder and the person stalking Elin. It made it hard to really engage and connect with the characters. There were also some things that didn't feel authentic, such as officers being alone instead of pairs and other actions that didn't work for me in regards to the villains and the main characters.

If you're looking for a sweet and suspenseful read, then this did fit. I enjoyed reading it. It's not very often that I'm still unsure how the plot elements would come together and who the villain would be in the end and it was nice to be surprised.

Content: Clean (There are some violent parts, but I would still consider this clean for the genre.)

Source: I would like to thank Litfuse and the publisher, Thomas Nelson, for my free review copy, which did not affect my review in any way.
