Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon October 2014

dewey

I'm participating in Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon today (I'm #113). I'll be gone half the day, but I still wanted to join and have some fun. I'll be posting updates on Twitter. I'm gonna see how much reading I can squeeze in in these 24 hours. :)

GOALS
- Read two books or at least 400 pages.
- Enter at least two mini-challenges/giveaways.

My goal is to get through as many of the books from A Year of Weddings Series. They're each 120 pages and several are from favorite authors, so I should easily get four of them read, but I would love to get more than that. Here they are:
A December Bride (A Year of Weddings, #1) A January Bride (A Year of Weddings, #2) A February Bride (A Year of Weddings, #3) A March Bride (A Year of Weddings, #4)
An April Bride (A Year of Weddings, #5) A May Bride (A Year of Weddings, #6) A June Bride (A Year of Weddings, #7) A July Bride (A Year of Weddings, #8)
An August Bride (A Year of Weddings, #9) A September Bride (A Year of Weddings, #10) An October Bride (A Year of Weddings, #11) A November Bride (A Year of Weddings, #12)

OPENING MEME

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Arizona, USA

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Hmm. There are three favorite authors in my stack, but I'm going to go with A December Bride.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Lol! Ice cream later tonight. That's a snack, right? ;)

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I like lots of things, like playing racquetball, cooking, crafting, and painting. I also have a wide range of reading tastes which translates to way too many ARCs to read.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This is my first time and I would say just busting out as much reading as possible and having fun with some mini-challenges.

MID-EVENT SURVEY
1. What are you reading right now?
A January Bride

2. How many books have you read so far?
Just one.

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
That would be A March Bride since she's another favorite author.

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
A lot right now because we had a family get together from noon to four-ish and I slept in a little this morning, so I haven't had a lot of reading time. The family thing was more important, so I didn't "deal" with them, but I did read on the way there and back and that's when I finished my one book. I've got the next six hours though...

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
How active it is. There's a lot I could be doing each hour besides reading, so there are definitely different ways to participate.
-------------------------------------------

I'll also be hosting a mini-challenge for the 14th hour (9 pm Eastern/6 pm AZ time) here, so come check that out when it's time!

Wish me luck!
