Bout of Books 14

Bout of Books

It's that time again... for another Bout of Books Read-a-thon! You can see all the details and sign up here. Here's their blurb:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 17th and runs through Sunday, August 23rd in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 14 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team
I decided to go ahead and get my sign-up and goals posted so I'll be all ready to go in a week. I'm hoping to do some really good reading, but we'll see how far I get.  I'm also participating in ARC August so some books will overlap with that challenge as well.

UPDATES

I definitely didn't read as much as I wanted to, but I also did decent. I got the books read that I needed to and one that I wanted to. Here are the books I finished (the first two are linked to reviews):
Legally and Lawfully Yours We Are Daughters of Our Heavenly Father: Striving to Live the Young Women Values This Quiet Sky Irish Meadows (Courage to Dream #1)

DAY 7: Sunday, August 23rd

Challenge: The challenge today was hosted by Sarah Reads Too Much about what to read next. I stuck to YA so that it made it easier to choose. Here are my picks (in no particular order):

1. The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows. From my review: "The Orphan Queen is a fantasy full of complex characters, a mysterious magic, a rich setting, danger, adventure, betrayal, and a slowly-building romance that is both intense and sweet. It has everything you would look for in a story and more."

2. A School for Unusual Girls by Kathleen Baldwin. From my review: "It was sweetly romantic, set wonderfully, and had a great set of interesting characters and enough danger to make this one book that was impossible to put down."

3. The Perilous Journey of the Not-So-Innocuous Girl by Leigh Statham. From my review: "The Perilous Journey of the Not-So-Innocuous Girl kept me engaged, had me tearing up at one point, made me angry, had thrills, and some sweetly romantic moments that were also intense. I love it when stories can pull those emotions from me and this one definitely did!"

Read: Finished (239 pages) of Irish Meadows
Pages Read: 239
Total Pages Read: 931
Total Books Read: 4

DAY 6: Saturday, August 22nd
I have not gotten even close to as much reading in as I was hoping to this point. It's been such a busy week when I thought it wasn't going to be. One more day...
Challenge: Missed it.
Read: Read 32 pages of Irish Meadows
Pages Read: 32
Total Pages Read: 692
Total Books Read: 3

DAY 5: Friday, August 21st
Challenge: Character Soulmates over at Blue Books and Butterflies. This was where we match two characters from different books together. I picked Prince Nikolai from The Grisha series (because he deserves a happy ending and someone who will love him) and Winter from The Lunar Chronicles (I know she has a love interest, but I think with her background and how she can be sweet, sly, and fierce, that she'd be perfect for Nikolai and vice versa). We also had to pick a ship name and there wasn't really anything I liked, but I went with Winolai. :/ Kind of fits in a way: "Win o lie." Lol!
Read: Finished (150 pages) We Are Daughters of Our Heavenly Father
Pages Read: 150
Total Pages Read: 660
Total Books Read: 3

These are my picks for today’s #boutofbooks #FourSeasonsinBookCovers Challenge (all Sarah M. Eden books): Spring/Seeking Persephone, summer/For Elise, fall/Drops of Gold, & winter/Glimmer of Hope.
DAY 4: Thursday, August 20th
I'm behind where I'd like to be in my reading, but my mom just started a blog and I've spent the past two days helping her with it. Now that it's up and running I should have more time. *crosses fingers*
Challenge: The challenge for today was the Four Seasons in Book Covers challenge over at Kimberly Faye Reads. I had four books, all by Sarah M. Eden that worked for this, so that's what I went with: Seeking Persephone, For Elise, Drops of Gold, and Glimmer of Hope. If you enjoy historical romance and haven't read her books, I'd definitely recommend them.
Read: Read 103 pages of Irish Meadows
Pages Read: 103
Total Pages Read: 510
Total Books Read: 2

DAY 3: Wednesday, August 19th
Challenge:
The challenge today was the Mash Challenge over at Rocky Top Real Talk. I haven't played MASH in over two decades so I really couldn't remember how to do it and I completely left out the category for kids, but oh well. I did have fun with it by trying to use things out of my books for the husband/love interest and vehicle categories at least. If you participated, how did you come out?
