My Review
Festive Feasts is full of classic recipes, along with a few twists that focuses on three holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Sections include appetizers, main dishes, sides, Thanksgiving leftovers, Christmas breakfast and brunch, desserts, and gifts from the kitchen. With pictures that accompany almost every recipe and recipes full of flavor as well as fun (in the case of Halloween and a few other recipes) Festive Feasts is a great book for those looking to find holiday menu ideas for the first time, to change up their normal fare, and just for some appetizing and delicious recipes to make any time of the year.
Including Halloween was a great addition that I haven't seen in holiday cookbooks before, one that was appreciated, and included some of the funnest recipes from this book. The Chocolate Pumpkin Spiderweb Tart was delicious and so very spookily festive. The Witch's Finger Sugar Cookies would be a riot at a Halloween party. The Caramel Apples were divine, full of gooey caramel and sweet tartness that our family thoroughly enjoyed and had some laughs over messy faces with. The Owl Cupcakes were super cute as well.
Moving into the Thanksgiving section, The Roasted Butternut Soup was delicious and perfect for the season. The Cranberry Glazed Turkey is now on my list to try this season and made my mouth water just looking at the picture. Aunt Lani's Yeast Rolls had a rich flavor and will be on my regular list of roll recipes. We will be trying Disney's Caramel Apple Pie (Copycat) and Chocolate Peanut Butter Dessert soon.
From the Christmas section we had to try the Make-Ahead Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Frosting. They were divine. Mom's Homemade Utah Scones were a huge hit as well (similar to what we call Indian Fry Bread here). Definitely a recipe we'll be keeping. Next on my list is to try the Breakfast Enchiladas and Overnight Blueberry French Toast. I have to also note that the Christmas Layered Drink is just awesome and something we'll be making in the future as well as several other recipes.
If you're looking to mix up your holiday menu, for some fun recipes to entertain with, or just some tasty recipes to try, Festive Feasts has plenty of recipes that won't disappoint.
