She should step away. She really should. Allowing him to hold her created a longabsent sense of wholeness. As safety enveloped her, her shuddering eased and her tears faded to hiccups. He held her close, so strong and protective. She inhaled his aftershave, something clean and earthy and faintly spicy. The warmth of his body brought familiar comfort. She ached to kiss away all her hurt and loneliness. She ached to restore the love they’d once shared. She ached to be complete again. But he didn’t love her. He’d jilted her for another.
The ache intensified to a sharp pain.
About Donna Hatch
My passion for writing began at the tender age of 8 and I’ve been hooked ever since. Of course, I also wanted to be an actress and a ballerina, but one out of three isn’t bad, right?

In between caring for six children, (7 counting my husband), my day job, my free lance editing and copy writing, and my many volunteer positions, I manage to carve out time to indulge in my writing obsession. After all, it IS an obsession. My family is more patient and supportive than I deserve.
I'm looking forward to reading this! How about you? Will you be grabbing a copy?
Excellent review!
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat 99 cents! Great deal.
ReplyDeleteGood review. I like the her name Arabella. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis book ticks all the boxes for me - especially Christmas & historical.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be buying a copy! We love Donna!!!
ReplyDelete10 - 11 course meals? Really. Sheesh. Of course I like food, so it might be kind of fantastic...hehe!
ReplyDeleteJust knowing that Lady and the Tramp was set during this area is enough to make me want to check the book out. But the amazing synopsis doesn't hurt either. Or the amazing cover!
ReplyDeleteI would not be good as a debutante. I am a tomboy, I don't have much of a girly gene in me at all. Dresses kind of make me cringe most of the time. And the types of guys who actually would want to be at these events and find a wife there would most likely not be my type. But I would love to go just to check it out, and eat some of the food, and probably be a nuisance!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about this!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa! :)
ReplyDeleteI liked it too.
ReplyDeleteMy only complaint would be that I wish it was longer. I'd like 100 pages. :)
ReplyDeleteNope, you can't. I hope you enjoy it if you grabbed a copy!
ReplyDeleteIt would be romantic. And dancing the waltz... *sigh*
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty cover and it fits the story as well. :)
ReplyDeleteLol! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't like to be on display, but that's just me.
ReplyDeleteThat definitely was the point. They don't really have honorable things like that anymore.
ReplyDeleteHa! You would be able to figure out what you liked and what you didn't.
ReplyDeleteI'd just need to walk around. A lot. But they did have dances a lot, so you'd burn calories there, right?
ReplyDeleteLol! Glad you've got your priorities straight there. ;) It was an enjoyable book. Heavy on the romance, but I liked it.
ReplyDeleteYou could just be the feisty debutante and all the guys would hang out with you instead of the other dramatic girls. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo glad! :)
ReplyDeleteMy priorities can be slightly skewed at times....
ReplyDeleteWell, then.... I think I could handle being the feisty deb who is buddies with the boys!
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know, the Twitter follow entry for celticlady isn't working. I don't know if it is just me, but i haven't been able to find it, googling or clicking on the link....
ReplyDeleteIt's the one she sent me, but I think we had trouble with that link several months back. Thanks for letting me know. :)
