Summary
Nerdy foster kid Ian just found out it’s up to him to save the galaxy. But the only way he can do it is with help from the hottest girl in school, Arianna—who doesn’t remember that she and Ian are exiles from another planet—or that they’re betrothed. So . . . that’s awkward. Funny and full of twists, this is one sci-fi adventure you won’t want to miss!
My Review
Ian Quicksilver was just an all around fun read! Lots of sarcasm and self-depreciation, but also some good laughs, adventure, danger, friendship, and a little romance. I've also been intrigued by stories of aliens on earth. There were some nice twists here, along with the usual hero, heroine, and evil villain. Perfect for middle grade and YA readers.
I really loved the voice of this story! Even though Ian's life was pretty depressing, the way he thought kept things on the lighter side. It's been a while since I've read a book from a maile point of view and I definitely enjoyed this one. I also liked getting to know the other characters. I would have liked to have delved a little deeper into it all, but I'm also okay with things getting a little more intense and serious as the series progresses. There's a lot of potential here for these characters to develop even more and for them to grow as they risk all to save two planets.
For those that like a sarcastic and humorous narrative with plenty of danger and adventure, two worlds hanging in the balance, some good friends and a love interest, I'd recommend giving Ian Quicksilver a try.
