My Review

I've tested and reviewed quite a few cookbooks over the past year and I would say that Ally's Kitchen was one of the best and a definite favorite of them all! There are so many things I loved about it. Let me share with you what those were...

Turkish-Style Chicken with Potatoes, Shiitake Mushrooms, & Mint

1) The recipes were honestly fabulous and each one I tried tasted amazing. I still salivate over some of them. Maybe too much information, but it is true. Even more they looked fabulous, so great presentation. 2) Her recipes were stock full of flavor. If you have a palate like mine, where you love full-flavored and richly seasoned food, then I would highly recommend this cookbook for you. 3) Ingredients were easy to find and use. There were several spice combinations that I hadn't heard of and didn't have, but there was a section on sauces and spice mixtures that solved that problem. 4) Almost every recipe had an accompanying picture. This can be a huge deal-breaker for me with cookbooks and this one definitely passed the test. 5) There was a good variety of recipes so that everyone should find something to love (although how you could not love them all, I wouldn't know). My only negative complaint would be that I would like more. I could definitely handle a second cookbook. Just saying.

Rustic Lemon Cheese Cupcakes

As far as the cookbook itself and its presentation... It's a sturdy, hardcover book. The pages were spread out beautifully, which is one reason why it would make such a wonderful gift. There were eight sections: Boholicious Sauces & Spice Mixtrues, Charming European Flavors, The Stunning Mediterranean, Middle Eastern Allure, An African Excursion, Exploring Exotic Asia, Caribbean Island Eats, and Side Trip Escapades. There was also a recipe index included for ease.

Caribbean Salmon with Mango Serrano Cucumber Salsa

We tried some lovely recipes: Rustic Lemon Cheese Cupcakes (European), Baked Croatian Cottage Cheese Struklji (Mediterranean), Turkish-Style Chicken with Potatoes, Shiitake Mushrooms, & Mint (Middle Eastern), Caribbean Salmon with Mango Serrano Cucumber Salsa (Caribbean), and Crispy Buttermilk Pork Chops in Sweet Soy Glaze (Asian). And we will be also trying this week: Lemon Pepper Grilled Steak with Warm Butter Herb Sauce (European) and Harissa Moroccan Chicken with Roasted Peppers & Olives (African).

Baked Croatian Cottage Cheese Struklji

Ally's Kitchen is perfect for those who are looking to expand their recipe collection and maybe taste some different flavors from other parts of the world. It's also perfect for individuals who just enjoy cooking and who enjoy flavorful food. Highly recommend!

I would love to eat food from France. I'm obsessed with visiting Paris, but I don't know much about their food.
